This is a bad connector. Replace the ends or the cable. If that does not cure it try wiggling the cable at the console itself. Could be the connector on the tv.

I just had the same problem with the same model but I was able to figure it out after a while.
From the remote control:
SETUP
Scroll left or right to the PREFERNCES menu.
Scroll down to the bottom until DEFAULT is highlighted.
HIt the PLAY button in the remote while RESTORE or RESET is highlighted.
The DVD player was reset back to factory settings within 10 seconds.

you are only having porblem with your color system. if you are using a multi system DVD player then see if it is properly selected to your region. in USA it should be NTSC 3.59, if you're in Europe it should be PAL. if you're using your DVD via a DSP or audio systems, check also the color system of the amplifier, it should be adjusted to your color system.

the lens which reads the dvd must have gone faulty.

if you're using a simple connection, connect the yellow colored output connection of your DVD to the video input of your TV. The audio out of the DVD red and white will go to the red/white of the TV also. If your TV is one channel or monaural, then you can only connect either the red or white.
you can also makje the connections in stereo if you are using a DSP amplifier. in that case your DSP should also have a video input and that is where you will connect your DVD. The video output of your DSP will go to the TV input. Just remember the color, Yellow is video signal )composite) and Red/White for left and right chanel audio.

Check the connections between the DVD player and the TV. If using RCA cables, replace them, as one may be defective. If using S-video, check its connection is secure. It is probably just a bad cable connection or in the case of the standard yellow-white-red RCA, this is probably defective at its sealed plug points - replace this.

If checking/replacing cables does not fix the issue, the DVD player and/or TV may require workshop attention, which could prove costly. I hope it's just something simple, like bad cables/connections.

Check the internet connection. The television can't update if it can't see the internet. Resetting it breaks the previous settings. Just for fun, reboot the router as well and wait 15 minutes until all the lights come back on. Then reestablish the television connection to the router. That sounds like it has a backlight fault. A good TV engineer can possibly repair that for you.
