Denon AVR-1905 Receiver - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
HOW TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE
There may not be any facility to update the firmware for this model without taking to the service center. This model does not have any device input like SD card or internet connection that would enable download of firmware upgrade. The later Denon models have this capability.
You will have to consult the local Denon service center for advise.
Receiver blowing fuses
Problem is most likely shorted output transistors. These are the large transistors mounted on the heatsink. When these go short, they usually take out some the adjoining resistors in that channel.
Hi, I have a Denon
zone 2 volume can be adjusted by zone2 remote control (small one which came with the unit) or by main remote control if you switch it to zone2 mode. My main rem control has a slide switch i have to put in zone 2 position to operate zone 2 amp.
I have a Denon AVR 1905 stereo receiver. It turns
Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.
Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.
You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.
If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.
If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.
It appears that the protection circut has
When you turn on the Receiver if after 4 seconds you hear a click and the standby light starts blinking - it indicates an output short circuit. You will need professional help to replace the components because modern AV receivers have very complex construction ( multiple circuit boards mounted on one motherboard and a lot of interconnecting cables )
I changed my DVD player
Assuming you connected it digitally you may have to open the manual on the unnamed DVD player and find out how it puts out DTS soundtracks.
My Denon AVR 1905 is
You need to see if the TV's sound, not the receiver is out of sync also. Turn up the sound on the tv and turn down on receiver. If it syncs correctly, your receiver isn't fast enough to process both correctly. You will have to upgrade your receiver to one that supports HDMI 1.4. Samsung sells one that works great, model # HW-C500.
Cannot get tv audio
Make sure you have at least one cable connected from the "audio out" or "variable out" labeled under the audio section of the TV, to the audio IN on the receiver. Then select the input on the receiver that you connected the audio from the TV to. Decrease the volume all the way on the receiver. Then disable the speakers of the television, and turn the TV volume up all of the way. Now, increase the volume of the receiver to the desired level.
It dont turn on. theres red light flashing. is
If you have done a reset by holding down speaker a and b buttons while plugging in. Hold buttons for a few seconds then release. If goes back to protect mode then you have a shorted output channel. Most repair shops will charge from 150-200 for repair, there is a lot of parts you have to replace on this model.
Denon receiver just struck by lightning.
Any time a unit is hit by lightning, it is usually a total loss. While the initial problem may be fixable, other components have been stressed and are likely to fail. Most shops won't work on these units because of the likelyhood of continual failures. Warranties won't be given or the repairs. In your specific case, the switching IC has been damaged and needs to be replaced as well as the surround processing section. This is best handled as an insurance claim for replacement.
