M-Audio MX8a tweeter replacement

Remove the six hex screws from the plastic front speaker housing. It\'s the piece with the speaker\'s make and model imprinted.Gently pry the cover off. The blue LED light can be easily freed by gently prying it loose from the back of the plastic housing. You\'ll notice the two wires connecting your tweeter. Don\'t pull too hard on the cover while the tweeter is still attached to prevent detaching the wires. Instead, take very short, stubby Phillips head screwdriver and remove the two screws holding the small plastic brace against the back of the tweeter. It\'s a tight fit. Don\'t pull too hard on the wires! Next, push the tweeter out from the front, touching only the extreme outer rim. Or, use needlenosed pliers to grip the heat sink on the back of the tweeter and gently pull from the back. The tweeter has a very powerful magnet. Find a small but robust rectangle made of ferrous metal. Large enough to span the front diameter of the tweeter. When the speaker magnet grabs the little metal plate, adjust the plate until the buzzing stops. This means of course that you have to turn the power to the speaker on.

M-Audio MX8a tweeter - Where can i purchase a replacement?

You may not find an exact match, but you should be able to find a suitable replacement that is the correct size and impedance from SimplySpeakers.com : Replacement Speakers I would recommend replacing both L & R tweeters, especially if its not an exact match replacement.

M-AUDIO STUDIOPHILE BX8a (woofer)

Hi David

The fault may be the bass driver itself or the Low Frequency power amp built into the speaker box. hard to determine which it is because it is intermittent. There are a couple of things to try. when the fault occurs.
  1. just lightly touch the cone on the bass driver see what happens. If it fires up again, it has failed soldering on the spider wire connections from the terminals to the cone. This can be repaired by a decent sound guy the does speakers, or a specialist near you that can be found easily enough. A new replacement driver is also an immediate option if you don't mind spending the bucks.
  2. if the above didn't work, to prove to yourself where the problem may lay, you could swap the bass drivers from one box to the other and see if the fault follows the driver, or remains with the speaker box. If the electronics are faulty, unless you have some decent experience with soldering and fault finding, you may be best to get it to a repair guy,
If you cant get it sorted, please provide me with your location(not address:)) and I will be able to locate a decent guy that knows what he is doing for you. Cheers

M audio studiophile BX8a deluxe

There is a problem with the amplifier internal to the unit, most likely from the main power transformer. Return to the place of purchase, or a service center for repair/replacement.

I HAVE THE M-AUDIO SP 5B MONITORS AND ONE OF THEM

It sounds like the speaker might be "blown". If you take the cover off... looking at the speaker, does the speaker's cone have a crack? Or is it separated around the edge... if so, it is blown. Most of the time this can be fixed... but you will have to take it someplace.

Is there a company in your area that professionally installs car audio systems? If so, they usually can repair speakers, or they will know who can.

The conection you made is not quite right. This is because the TRS (and the XLR) connectors at the back of the BX8a are for balanced signal. You have to use either this cable or connect both middle and ground point of the TRS connector at the ground. In other words the ground from the ipod must be connected with ground AND middle ring of both BX8a and the ring of the ipod must be connected with on BX8a TPS tip and the tip of the ipod must be connected with the other BX8a tip. I don't know if you are familiar with soldering connectors, in this case post me back to make a schematic for you with the connections.

In case of a problem or clarification or further details needed, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.
