jiwurster, If your unit seems to have a "black" lcd screen, then you may want to read a testimonial in my fixya profile. Your unit may also have bad electrolytic filter capacitors on it's "switch-mode-power-supply" circuit board. Check your board visually for swollen/leaky "CapXon" brand electrolytic filter capacitors. If not into doing inspection, you will need to contract out the work. Just do some reading here on fixya in the profiles of "budmrtn" "buddymc" "12fixlouie" The problem (poor quality/infantile failure) of CapXon filter capacitors is also rampant in the CCFL-back-lit-lcd monitor industry affecting nearly all brands of monitors. Well i really do not know what that is but i do have a thought it could be a bad connector and if you want i have the same tv for sale for $300 shipped just for parts the problem with my pt501 was the screen turned colors but the lamp is in excellent shape and so is the lcos screen the ownly thing that does not work is the main board (ciruit board) i will send you the hole thing for just 300$ shipped if you'd like email me back [email protected]

you used a spherical bulb, this TV needs a bulb with a parabolic reflector.

I have the same TV and had the exact same problem. I had to replace the lamp and power supply in mine to get it to work. Unfortunately...its next to impossible to find the parts, at least the power supply. I found the lamp online and I was lucky to get the online store I purchased the TV from to send me a power supply from one of thier stocked models, but only after I turned them into the FTC Consumer Protection. The TV was sold to me as a closeout but new, as it turned out the tv was a refurb, thats the only way I could get the parts I needed.

Degaussing coils do not work on LCD or Plasma TVs, Cathode Ray Tubes only. There should be no (not any type) demagnetizing circuitry on that type of set, so I have no idea what you replaced/adjusted. I believe one of two things to be the problem. Either the LCD screen itself is bad (possibly it has been struck with something and that has broken electrical connections that cannot be repaired) so replacing the LCD panel may prove to the the fix. However, the circuitry that drives the LCD panel could be at fault, improperly driving an otherwise good LCD screen. That is a tough call. I would carefully inspect the screen up close looking for tiny cracks in the glass. This could be a pricey repair either way. Good luck on that one. Perhaps you should include some more history of the set. Did it fall or get knocked over, was recently moved, got wet... anything would be helpful. I know that children of a certain age are known to go up to a set and slap the screen. A friend has a rear projection Pioneer with that type of damage.

open the set carefully and check all the fuse, now that set is kind of hard to open,just be carefull
