Olevia LT42HVi 42 in. LCD Television - Page 6 Questions & Answers
Replace Power supply?
In my experiance most power supply failures on LCD tv's or monitors are cause by the power capacitors failing due to cheap quality ones they use. If you take a look inside it I would guess that you will find the tops of some of the bigger ones swollen. These are pretty simple to change with just a soldering iron, solder wick and solder. Be sure to discharge then by shorting them out with a screwdriver and also make sure the new ones go in the correct polarity. If you have access to an ESR meter you could check even ones that are not swollen for out of spec resistances.
No power
You will need to get the set properly diagnosed. You could be looking at a power supply failure or a main board failure.
My tv has no sound.
Make sure you don't have the mute feature turned on. Also, not sure about your particular model, but some of the older Olevia sets have external speakers that are mounted on the bottom of the set. The speaker wires are external and plug into a jack on the back of the set. If this is such with your set, check the speaker connections. Some TV sets also have an option which lets you disable you onboard speakers so that your audio out terminals are activated. This option is for those who choose to use their surround sound systems vs. the factory TV speakers which tend to be of cheap sound quality.
All i got is a blue screen
Check all the input connections. Check this TV for on-air program reception. If it do not tune to on-air program, the tuner to this TV is faulty, and should be replaced.
No sound on lthvi olevia
Hope is not in the set as parts for this brand are hard to find. Have you connected a DVD etc to one of the rear inputs on the set to see if sound that way? Have you looked to see if in menu speakers are switched to OFF? do not forget to also look to see if set has internal/external speaker switches.
No sound 242 T11
check the usual things: speakers in menu not set to OFF, connect a DVD to a rear input to see if that works etc.
Auto channel search.
Check the r/c[remote control] for ' fresh ' batterys.
Do you have " air wave " reception? or cable connection?
air wave reception will scan but cable reception can't scan because the channel is 'fixed' at ch.3 or ch.4.
Olevia 542-b11 LCD HDTV won't turn on. Blue
My Olevia 42" television is several years old. In March of 2012, the infamous "TV will not power on" problem started. The blue LED light on the front of the TV would go off for a split second, then light up again. The television would not start. If you are handy with small tools and a soldering iron, you can change the capacitors on the power supply. My Olevia is a model 542-B11.I bought the repair kit off eBay from seller: sghill99 As of this writing, the seller has sold 37 of these kits. The title of the auction is: Repair Kit, Olevia 542-B11, LCD TV, CapacitorsAnd if the url is still active, it is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230554940338&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:US:3160I made the repairs in March 2012 and it is now August 2012 and the television is still working great. It is turned on and off several times every day.
