Please do not buy this telescope. first it is only 60mm, a pair of 10x50mm binoculars are almost the same aperture, and the binoculars would be better for Astronomy.

Second, the scope is on a shaky tripod and also has a shaky weak mount which will make it difficult to point.

My advice is NOT to buy a Tasco telescope. These are called "department store" telescopes and their quality is not very good.

Instead buy from a regular on-line telescope shop. Here are two:

I have a tasco lumina

This one isn't going to be easy. I found some Tasco manuals on this web page:
http://www.retrevo.com/samples/Tasco-Telescope-manuals.html
Perhaps they will help some.
Tasco would be the only ones that would have the manuals for this, or possibly their repair centers. If you can't figure it out, you'll have to try their support page, and here it is:
http://www.tasco.com.au/Support/Online_Enquiry_Support/Online_Tasco_Technical_Support.aspx
Good luck, and hope this helps.

How do you use it I can;t see anything

Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the telescope-- practice focusing on a distant object during the day time.

At night the moon should be your first target-- objects in the night sky are very tiny. Your scope must be pointed RIGHT AT THEM to see anything.

How do i set up a tasco telescope

Here is the manual:
http://www.tasco.com/products/manuals/46060675_TML-722.pdf

This is a very small refractor on an equatorial mount. The mount must be POLAR aligned before you can use it. We NEVER recommend this to a beginner.

However you bought one anyway! SO--- go to my profile page and read my TIPS on polar aligning an EQ mount. Several of the other TIPS will help you.

Also read this:
http://www.texasastro.org/telescope.php

and this about polar aligning an EQ mount-

How much does a tasco

It does not matter what it costs! Do not buy a Tasco telescope. Very poorly made, some even have plastic eyepieces and plastic lenses!

Check out this web site and others for a better, higher quality telescope.

http://www.telescope.com/control/main/

I would also suggest that you look at a Dobsonian mounted reflector like this one:

Image is upside down - why?

Yes that's correct. All astronomical telescopes show upside down images. Nothing is wrong with the scope.

You can buy an "erecting diagonal" for terrestrial viewing.

Here is one:

Trying to identify older tasco telescope and put it together

There are only two types of telescopes --- REFRACTORS, and REFLECTORS-

The refractor has a lens on the front of the tube and you insert different eyepieces in the back-- the larger the number written on the eyepiece the LOWER the magnification-- (DO NOT USE THE 2x or 3x barlow which you may have!-- this creates too much power for this small telescope!-- put it away and never use it!)

A reflector has a main mirror on the bottom of the tube, and a small secondary mirror under the eyepiece hole (focuser end) - front end-- put the lowest power eyepiece into the focuser.

Now with either type telescope go out side during the day and practice focusing on a distant object-- turn the knob SLOWLY. At night the moon should be the first target you try.

If you received what appears to be a smaller telescope -- that is the finder scope-- attach it to the top of the tube on the main telescope. Again during the day line up the small finder scope with the main scope-- look at a distant telephone pole (the very top-- and center this in the main telescope. Without moving the main scope use the finder scopes "screws" to adjust the cross hairs so they are pointing exactly where the main scope is pointed. Now you can use the small finder scope to point the telescope in the exact direction--

The moon should be your first night time target.

Good luck--

Lost my manual

You have a 60mm refractor telescope on an equatorial mount. First the mount must be polar aligned in order to useit. Second I believe these take .965 eyepieces. Most amateur scopes use 1.25 inch eyepieces,

The eyepieces are very cheaply made. Some may also have plastic lens instead of high quality glass, and they are not muti-coated lenses.

Why am I saying all this? because this scope will frustrate you. The tripod is shaky and the connection between the mount and the scope tube is never solid. The scope will not stay pointed and it will be difficult to move it around the sky accurately. Sky objects are very tiny. Less than the tip of you finger held at arms length!

We never recommend an EQ mount to a beginner, and never recommend a 60mm telescope. You could have bought a pair of 10x50mm binoculars and they would have been much better for astronomy.

The manual will NOT teach you how to polar align the scope or how to find objects in the sky.

Read my TIPS on my profile page Frequently Asked Questions, and also the one on aligning an equatorial mount on the star Polaris.

This is the only manual I have ever found-- someone took images of the manual and posted it on-line-

This appears to be a small 60mm refractor style telescope on an equatorial mount. The mount must be polar aligned in order to use it properly. Beginners should never buy an EQ mounted telescope as their first telescope.

However I have instructions on aligning the mount on the star Polaris on my profile page in the TIPS section. Read those instructions, and find a local Astronomy club. The members can help you with that telescope.

Everything looks so small through the scope, why?

Did you expect to see views like the Hubble Space Telescope? Objects in the sky are smaller than the tip of your finger held at arm's length!

Probably your scope is not larger than 70mm so your maximum magnification will be about 120 power.

Join an astronomy club and attend their star parties and look through the members telescopes, and read my TIPS on my profile page.
