Vector 955 Radar Detector Questions & Answers
I bought it at a
Hold down the "Brt" and "City" buttons as you power the unit on. This will reset the unit to it's default settings. It worked to restore mine to operation.
V955 does not work
Turn the unit off and then, while holding down the City and Brt buttons, turn it back on. This restores the factory default settings. Worked for mine with the exact same problem. Be sure to use the power switch though. If you just unplug the cord and plug it back in, it won't work.
Beltronics V955 Chirps on all bands for 10 minutes when cold
This is most likely caused by a poor connection between the antenna ridge and the local oscillator board. Another possibility is an uncontrolled LO chamber harmonic due to the cold temperatures. Regardless of the cause, your V955 is under warranty and Bel will fix it for free -- as long as you include a photocopy of your sales receipt. Go to Bel's web site (www.beltronics.com), and either call their 800 number or do the online chat in order to get a RMA number.
Service required
This message is generated only after a Bel or Escort radar detector has repeatedly encountered problems while trying to self-calibrate its radar detection circuitry. The Service Required message literally means that you must send in your RD for service since there is nothing that can be done to fix whatever the problem is short of sending it in for factory service. At least it will come back working like brand new!
Different respose in two different vehicles
does the pickup have an aftermarket alarm system installed (not fasctory)? If so the alarms perimeter sensor is not wired properly and is on all the time (not when the alarm is armed).

Using wrong power cord
Sounds like a dirty receptacle. If you're a smoker, I guarantee that's the problem. Take the cigarette lighter fuse out of your vehicle and clean the receptacle with sandpaper wrapped around a small stick. Good luck!
