Hoover U6434-900 Bagged Upright Vacuum - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

If this is a new belt that keeps coming off, then if not catching something in the roller like a scatter rug, etc then the belt isn't tracking true. The pulley may have come loose for one thing, something has to be off to have the belt come off. Does it come off almost right away, or after some uasge?

Hello! The vacuum has a thermal protector sensor that will automatically shut off the vacuum when it is overheated. The vacuum should turn back on once it has cooled down. This can take up to an hour. Overheating is usually caused by a clog or a filter that needs to be cleaned or replaced. Below are steps you may follow to check your vacuum for blockages.

1. Locate the primary filter behind the side grille. Wash the filter, squeeze it out and allow 24 hours to air dry outside of the vacuum. It should be washed about every other month.

2. Locate the secondary filter located in the vacuum base under the paper bag. The secondary filter can be washed in the same manner as the primary filter.

3. Replace the bag if it is full. 4. Remove the hose from both ends. Use a broom stick to gently loosen and clear any clogs from hose. 5. Remove the bottom plate and brush-roll. Use a wooden spoon or something similar to loosen and remove any clogs from the lower hose. Hope this helps!

We have recorded a ver convenient video on how to replace the belts on your Hoover Windtunnel Self-Propelled Upright Vacuum Cleaner. We also explain how to do regular maintenance on the roller brush to prolong the life of these belts. It's best to replace both the thin belt, and the fat belt, Parts 38528034 and 38528035 at the same time.

I took the top of the vacuum apart and found the cable that drives the wheels was broken. I am going to order a new cable.

Your model requires (2) different belts. Here is a link to the belts you need and to the manual:

U6434-900 Brush Roll Belt

Check the belt, if it's a belt driven brush roller. If not, check the bearings of the roller. You may need to replace the brush roller. Take it to a local shop and have it looked at.

handle is suppose to be a little loose. s.p. function not working, try changing the flat belt p# 38528035 or pk # 40201170 (2)

all i no is on the bottom of unit there is 2 smaller wheels that control the height adj. see if that the prob.

Either the carbon brushes on the motor need replacing or the thermal cut out is activating. That might be because it is faulty or because there is not enough airflow over the motor. Overheating motor causing an automatic shutoff. This is most commonly caused by an air passage that is plugged by hair or dirt.

When your Hoover spin scrub is not sucking up water, the most common problem is the clear round cap located on the suction nozzle is not closed. See pic. Also check the rubber cap on the dirty water tank.

The only people that will know is Hoover. There are no clues in there. It could be 3 month of 2002, but anyone's guess. Phone them up.

Depending on the model and the country, the standard fuse is in the plug or it is the breaker. They do have an internal thermal fuse to protect against severe overheating.
