LeapFrog Leapster Electronic Book: Spider-Man (30425) for PC, Mac Questions & Answers
Why do frog disapper after the rainy
The Egyptians believed frogs to have been formed from mud and
water, a belief that seems to have materialized as a result of rivers flooding
during the rainy season, at which time frogs reproduced in such quantities that
thousands of tiny frogs and toads invaded walkways and public areas; they even
entered private homes and in general were regarded as pests.
This phenomenon was dubbed "Frog Rain", because such occurrences
always happened after the first heavy rains of the season.
As such frogs became associated with weather predictions because they
would begin croaking just before rains.

Hi, We live in Australia
Hi Dani,
I've seen these units in BigW and Myers in Brisbane. We bought one damaged which I fixed by replacing some capacitors, if the reason you want a replacement pen is because you have one that stopped working it's possible the capacitors are just worn out, they have a limited life. If you know someone handy with a soldering iron they can be replaced for a few dollars in parts, but an hour or two of labour!
Opening the globe is a bit tricky so feel free to contact me for advice. I can be contacted by the feedback form at www.flowershop.com.au rather than posting my email address to all the spammers of the world. ;)

If your Leapster does not respond to the stylus pen, it needs to be calibrated.
The following are instructions below on how to recalibrate the leapster.

2. Hold down the Home, Hint and B buttons simultaneously.
3. When the screen changes, press the A button.
4. Using the Stylus, touch the center of the targets.

Our leapster 2 has sound
I checked the warranty and it is only 3 months.
Unfortunately, your warranty period has expired since it is 2 years old.
In my experience it is tough to convince the manufacturer of electronic toys to service such products after the warranty period is over.
But you could try to contact the Leap Frog people to see what could be done.
Screens that are dim indicate to me that the electronics are burnt out somehow, but parts are not available to the public in these instances.
Perhaps the best thing would be to replace the product with another, if it is still manufactured and available, at say, a major retailer like Walmart.
Good luck.

Screen calibration doesn't work on Leapster 2.
CALIBRATION - summary of hints from here that eventually got our circa 2007 green leapster's screen recalibrated - in no particular order: 1) "home+hint+B" to get started, 2) "A" button next, 3) cleaned dirt from the gap between the plastic and the screen all the way around with a toothpick (seemed to be the KEY ELEMENT to get everything else to work), 4) be patient and keep trying until you see the targets - the first one should appear in the top left corner while the text is still on the screen, 5) if it doesn't work just right the first time try again, 6) unit should beep each time you press a target center.
