it might be damp, try taking battries out of the unit then wrapping in a towel and leaving it in the hot water cubbord for a few days.

I just had the same exact problem. We followed the leap pad recommendations for cleaning the stylus connection. Then we used a q-tip to clean the cartridge port and blew into it. Now it works.

Here i can analyse that you purchased an old one , it's simple the cartridges have become faulty till this time an this do happen with them as they become old.

perhaps you may complain it to that person and get it compensated because this would probably be the reason he sold it to you

Try cleaning the other cartridges contacts with alcohol and Q-tip. The major problem with the leappad is that the cartridges are failing after the warranty period is over.

because it requires a all round cooking . hole if not present the middle part remains uncooked !!

I really don't have the answer for you, but I can tell you I have the book Pooh gets stuck and mine is doing the same thing. I thought it was the cartriage and replaced it. Oddly the one I replaced it with skipps the same words. My book looks new so I wouldn't think it's the book, but I bought them used in the first place so I guess it may be the book. My leappad is playing everything else fine except The day Leap Ate Olives it is doing the same thing. They sell replacement books and cartriages on ebay for about $5-8 each so maybe that will help. If you get one that doesn't work contact the seller at least they will usually refund your money or send another one. Hope this helps some anyway: )

Try removing the interanl battery for a couple of minutes, this will reset the learning system.

If you still get the problem afterward, that means that the learining system is faulty.

In that case the unit must be taken apart to fix the fault (probably a bad ribbon cable to the touch screen). I suggest calling leapfrog to arrance replacement. If unit warranty is expired, they usually send a new unit for a reduced fee.
