DS Lite has red lines in top screen?

My DS Lite has recently suffered some damages from my brother's recklessness (he keeps it in his pocket and allows it to be tossed around in his bag). I noticed that while playing ALL games, there are some red lines running through the TOP screen, which is especially noticeable when the screen is black (when the DS is on). When the screen is not black or a dark color, there is noticeable "redness" in the colors of the game. For example, I was playing Pokemon and the background had a strange red hue, when it should have been blue. I noticed that the red lines mostly show up when the top screen is flipped all the way to the back (past 90°), but when I position the screen to a different angle (closer to 90° or just a bit more) the screen no longer has the red lines running through it. I'm not sure what exactly is wrong with the DS and I couldn't find much on this problem online. Could someone please tell me what might be broken or wrong with my DS? Is it a problem with the LCD top screen or perhaps something with the hinge?? (I would send it to Nintendo to get it fixed, but I don't have 75$+ right now ... and it doesn't seem too difficult to replace the part myself.) Thank you in advance.

It could also be running fluid from the screen's gel padding. I doubt that, though... It's best to buy or order a replacement screen. It's actually not too expensive and is not too hard to DIY. The problem with that, is it's really easy to accidentally break something while opening up a DS, especially the DS lites. Another problem is, you need a triwing screwdriver to open up the DS, which can only be found online. So, if you don't want to buy anthing online, you should just ask gamestop or something to repair it for you. It'll come at a price though...

When I hooked up my DS with the charger the orange light would flicker for only a few seconds then turn off.

I found out that if you KEEP THE DS ON WHILE HOOKED UP the DS will charge. Although, because you are playing/DS is on the charging will go extremely slowly.

Best option, and what I did, was was just return/exchange it. I just did that today.

With three boys we frequently have this problem and we found that rubbing the pins clean with a Qtip dipped in rubbing alcohol and then wait for it to be mostly dry before re-inserting. Some times we have to do this 2 times  - good luck!

right i hope this helps as im having same problem. (my ds will charge but wont power up/ not even the binking green light when flicking the switch) so it isnt the fuse problem!!!! ive replaced my sons screen with a ebay screen and i did'nt insultate back of the new screen with electrical tape (o any1 who replaceing screen always insultate back of the new screen if it is'nt already done) so i have had to solder both F! andF2 fuse to get it working!! right now i have bought a ebay faulty nds and its not the fuses thats at fault (tested them with multimeter) the problem is a component labelled L2 thats situated directly under the power switch, apartently they are prone to fall off when nds is dropped. check yours out to see if it is still there (unfortunately mine isnt because the person i bought it from opened the nds and i assume has lost it. hope this helps in your quest to fix it. if any1 can tell me what the L2 component is and where i can get one (so i can solder it on and fix my nds) i would be greatful.thanks

DS Lite's top screen has horizontal black lines

The lines appeared when I was trying to fix a problem with my Lite's L-button. I had a look, cleared any dust off, and closed it up. When I turn it on, there are black lines allover the screen. Or at least, that''s what it looks like. It's affecting the bottom screen too, as the bottom screen's flickering a little too, but thescreen's still clear. The odd thing is, closing the Lite and opening it will cause the top screen to become clear for a split second, and then gets covered with lines. It's not a major problem (most of my games use either the bottom screen or aren't too heavily burdened but the top screen) but I want to know if it's fixable, and how much it'll cost to fix. Any help appreciated.

i found a REALLY easy solution! the most likley problem is that there is dust in the GBA/DS game card slot! it corrupts the connectors (i dont want 2 explain how it gets into the system) so step one: wrap a small peice of tissue around the stylus(make sure DS is turned ON)
step two: LIGHTLY go inside the GBA/DS slot with the tissue wrapped stylus.
step three: shut down DS system and turn on again
problem solved! hope this helps.

this is a problem with the R4 Kernel which has not been updated in a long time and probably wont.

use this instead its a Replacement for the R4 Kernel which is based on the DSTT 1.16 firmware.

simple copy the new files to your R4 and games will boot fine.
