Modem Driver

To download the most appropriate modem driver for your Windows XP computer, a few steps is indispensible to finish the whole process.Step 1Look at the modem. Write down the make and model. If you have a dial-up modem in your computer, take the panel on the tower off. Shine the flashlight on the device. On the circuit board, the manufacturer and/or model number is present.Step 2Locate an Internet connection. To download Windows XP modem drivers, go to the library or someone's home where the Internet is able to connect. If you have another working modem in your house, you can download them directly to your computer.Step 3Go to the manufacturer's official website or a Windows XP modem driver's web page. Windows XP Drivers, Drivers Kit and Driver Support Registry have modem drivers for the Windows XP operating system.Step 4Click on the modem device. Select the manufacturer of the modem. Some of the driver sites are XP only, while others are all drivers. You will have the chance to choose your operating system before downloading. Click on the "Download" tab. Wait approximately 10 minutes, depending on the speed of the PC and Internet connection.Step 5Burn it to a disk. If you are at another location, you need to burn to CD/DVD for transportation.

Made unsuccessful attempts to connect

Can we have more information about the problem you have when attempting to connect ? The error code and message would me very useful in your case.

For example :
1. If it says the modem is already in use, go to "Network connections" or "Network and sharing center" and delete all existing dial-up connections, then create a new one based on the settings your internet provider gave you.

2. It might be a problem with the login and password. Write both in Notepad on the computer, then copy and paste the information in the required fields in the connection window.

3. It might also be a problem on the telephone line. Try another computer with dial-up modem known to work properly. If the problem repeats on that computer, the problem is on the telephone line. You will need to contact your provider to fix the problem.

My smartusb56 external modem don't

Open the cd drive in windows explorer and right click the installer. Click the "compatibility" tab and in the Compatibility mode tab, check the box and select windows vista from the dropdown menu. Click OK and try to install the driver again. If this dosent work, modems are incredibly cheap, you would probably be better off just buying a new one.

Does the FM-3868 PCI modem

Hi!

As it's a PCI card, it means that it's an add-in card.
Anyways, even if it was on-borad, a driver is required!
I assume you're using Windows XP... You can get the driver here (Installation instructions can be found here).
If it doesn't work, try this driver instead.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.
If you are satisfied, rate my solution with the "thumbs" or (even better) add a testimonial.

Best regards,
Pelu.
