The only other way to get maps is to look for third party map files. Sometimes they are free. I've not tried to find one for my tomtom but have for my magellan. So if someone has done one then you just need to search the web for something like tomtom map download and the area covered.

it seems like your battery aint the issue,, it can be the charging circuit or the jack itself.. Mostly the jacks solder is broken off,, simply resolder it to the board

go to tomtom.com, go to support, search for reset, select your device do as told. includes fotos of resetbutton and good discription. first make sure battery is full. goodluck.

It is on the base of the unit and is a small recessed black rubber button.

A simple reset was required, per user manual from TomTom online. It is a hidden button on the display module.

the MAP data has become corrupted, this happens for many reasons, have you ever had a problem with a program on a Home PC? it works ok for years then all of a sudden it has a problem, that is what has happened here, there are many reasons for this but at this point you have lost the map data, the unit has no recovery other than to reload the MAPS from the TomTom support web site, there most likely will be a charge to get this data, once you have the new maps you can download them using a mini USB cable to your GPS.

yes it should come with a universal voltage adapter and eu two pin connector.

honestly there is no official registraton. in case of loss or theft, write down the serial number...it can be used for police reports etc...only...these units can not be tracked.....

in case of damage save the receipt, as it will be needed in case of repair to prove that it is under the 1 year warranty

Try pressing the reset button, check your documentation for the location...but it's at the connection interface.

Did you run out of memory? Just it have an SDHC slot? If so install a 16GB card. Try again.

The screen shows an X when the navigation software on your TomTom is corrupted ... and it will not start (boot) up the device. Have you tried contacting TomTom Support, to have them walk you through this problem ? assuming you recently bought your TomTom and it is still on warranty.

do a google search for tomtom then connect it to your computer after installing tomtom home and it should automatically update, you will firstly need to set up an account with tomtom though. (free i think)

This message is usually shown (only) when your TomTom is connected to a computer (USB port). If your TomTom GPS is not connected to a computer when you switch it on, this message should not display. If this is not the case, try re-booting your GPS, by holding down the ON/OFF button (for a long while) until the GPS turns off, or by using the RESET (pin hole) ... and see if it fix the issue.
