What kind of receiver did you get? DirecTV, Dish, or something else? This remote comes with software and cables you can connect to your computer. You need to have an electrical contact cleaner to resolve the issue. That is very common problem which is caused by dirt build up inside. Spray it with the contact cleaner (don't wipe), wait a few minutes, re-assemble the unit and then you can use it again like new.
This is widely available at the electronics supply, homedepot, computer supply, etc...

All arond it frame?Yes.Can u take it parts?Tries a damp cloth soak with some rubbing alcahols.Clean the whole PCB board and the battery - + resolders the battery - + steal plate connections too if possible and have a soldering iron equipment.Wait awhile like 10 or 20 mins put it back togetther again,will have a 50/50 chances fo it to work again.

There should also be an item in the setup menu called INPUT FORMAT.

This is NOT the same as the INPUT SOURCE which is the usual tv, cable, dvd, ypbpr, vga etc.

Try selecting different input formats until you find one that works with your cable signal.

Use the menu buttons on the tv itself if you are unable to access these options via the remote.

The unit hit the floor pretty hard?Yes,it probally have micro fractures on it PCB board.Sorry it probally junk now.Buy a new unit.

Your remote controls' infrared light emitting frequency may have changed to a little. It may be due to an IC trouble inside it, or oscillator crystal used as standard reference frequency generator. You just open your remote control and replace the oscillator reference crystal first. It can be resolder out from its internal printed circuit board, and can be got from any electronic spare part shop and is cheap in price too. Note its frequency marked on it and buy. If it doen't help, the Ic may be damaged, and it is best for you to buy a new one, rather than trying to replace that IC. OK

sorry to say this but the remote has failed, having it repaired is really not viable from the stand point of cost, it is better to just replace it.

173 or 193 is for a directv box. It may be manufactured by another company, hughs net, rca, ect.
