When dishwasher is washing and rinsing, water
Hello
Look for leaks around the lower spray arm or soap door. Check the plastic on the lower spray arm to make sure it is not cracking down the middle. Replace the arm if you find any cracks or splits. If the soap door is leaking, it probably needs a replacement gasket.
My Hotpoint dishwasher won't fill with water. I
abviosely check that there is water going into it but also check the float switch. There should be a bobber type of thing that goes up and down when the water fills in there. Move that up and down to see if it's stuck. You should here a click of a switch when doing that. If that doesn't do it let me know.
Dishwasher will not start on long wash
Means that the shorrt washes are working correct. So the input is the same for all for the motor to intitiate and so this indicates that there is a program errror.
You can cross check once again to plug up all connectors an sensorrs.
Check with the short program the missing components and it can be the fault. Can the heater be the ISSUE? please check.

Leaking water at the discharge line/selinoid???
If it is coming out the bottom of the door (ie around the bottom seal, it may be the dish washing powder. Had this issue on one machine and simply changing back to the one the manufacturer recommend stopped the puddles forming. I think it is due to the power being too sudsy and creating excess bubbles
Where do i put the salt in my hotpoint dishwasher
If you don't put salt in the appliance then the regeneration crystals will clump together over time and solidify. This will cause a restriction in the softener unit.
If you stopped using it and then started again you may find that the impurities caught by the crystals have simply found their way into the appliance.
You can set the softener to be at minimum setting if you are in a soft water area.
The salt isn't used to soften the water, it's used to clean the crystals in the water softener unit.
Why Do I Need to Use Salt in my Dishwasher?
Salt is needed to ensure that your dishwasher's in-built water softener gives an optimum performance. You will especially need to use dishwasher specific salt if you live in a hard water area. You can purchase one of our Aqua test strips (part number 180876) to determine the hardness of your water from our parts and accessories store or call us on 08448 225 225 .
Manually drain the floor of the machine, put in salt, and check out.
open the salt container at the bottom, and it will be full up with water, and it really will smell bad. clean it and add salt near to 1kg. then run run a prewash cycle and then check out does the salt error is coming up.if yes then more salt needs to be added.
This will help. Thanks please keep updated. please do rate the solution positively.thank you for using fixya
Sishwasher not used for months. Now motor only
Disassembled dishwasher. Some plastic scraps had shredded and wound itself around the pump impeller axis. It was preventing the motor from turning. Upon removal diswasher again worked fine.
Water not going into dishwasher. We turned off the
Is the drain attached directly to the side of the disposal? If so, you didnt take the "knock out" out. Where the drain goes for the washing, there is a block in case the house does not have a washing machine. U need to knock this out with a screwdriver and whatever (plyers or hammer). Not tough to do. Good luck
Crusty stuff on glasses after wash cycle
I never figured out what caused this problem. I cleaned it and took it all apart, could not find any debris lodged anywhere. However, I solved this problem! I now only use Cascade Complete dishwasher detergent. Has to be the "complete" version of Cascade. No more grit - nice clean dishes now and sparkling glasses.
Does not drain. Water stays in the bottom.
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to
see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything
blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher
might not drain properly.
If the drain hose is clogged,
the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is
very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage
disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach
the hose before starting the dishwasher.
Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller,
takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the
water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the
dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.
DOES NOT DRAIN
Check drain hose first.
If you do not find any blockage, then you will need to access the pump, remove pump hose and look for blockage in there.
If there is no blockage at all, then either the water level switch, a faulty pump, a wiring problem, or a faulty timer board can be cause the machine not draining.
