I have a brother pacesetter 607 model. It used to

Simple things first, check the needle to make sure it is perfect, if you can select all the patterns and the needle moves from side to side but does not pick up the thread then it could be a timing issue and you can email me for attachment of instructions, if the needle is not moving side to side when you select a pattern then it may well be a split camstack.

Threading a Serger

When threading a serger, you MUST follow this sequence. 1. Upper looper 2. Lower looper Then thread your needles. If your thread breaks, you must un-thread your needles before re-threading your loopers.

Does anyone have a suggestion? I have threaded the machine correctly but I cannot get the machine to sew.

You have a nice serger, so let's start with some basics: Is your serger cleaned? Go back to the instruction book and set the entire machine to the factory settings. For example, set all the dials to tension 4. Use quality thread which is made for your spool holder. Usually cones of thread work best. Use an appropriate fabric, not sheer, not very heavy drapery fabric. Make absolutely sure it's threaded properly. Finally, make sure all the threads are under the presser foot.....then start serging. If the serger still won't serge without tangling, it might be good to have it serviced. I find that buying a new serger is more useful than having a worn out one serviced. Good luck!

it might be a good time to have the sewing machine checked to see if there is a part that may be going bad, or the machine may need some type of adjustment.

My serger won't cut

Sounds like your blades are either dull, misaligned, disengaged or broken. Examine your serger book for how to re-engage the blades. If they are engaged, make sure they are aligned correctly. If that still doesn't help check for damage.

Why does my lower looper come unthreaded (not

Is the eye on the looper itself coming unthreaded each time this happens? I can't imagine how it would unless the eye itself is damaged. Are you chaining off at the end of the seam each time you stitch? If there is a chain of several inches then the looper should not be able to unthread.Only thing I can think of is "are you raising the pressure foot and cutting the chain close to the foot at the end of each seam perhaps"? If so, you don't do this with a serger, you just chain off then cut the chain with thread snips or pull a good length of thread chain back in front of the cutting blade to sever it.Maybe take a look at some of Nancy Zieman's videos on You Tube or some of the other serger videos there; there is lots of good information and sergers are much easier to learn visually. If you think that there is definitely something wrong with the machine, you could always take it to your nearest Brother dealership and ask them to test sew on it, if it faults for them then they may be able to diagnose the cause quickly.

I need instructions on oiling

Does your machine have a threading diagram inside the front drop down cover over the loopers? Many machines have a diagram here which includes red dots for oiling points.

Usually a couple of spots where the loopers move through/over another metal part.

Important to firstly brush out the whole area underneath the needle plate, around the blade, and the loopers and inside the case area completely, removing the lint with a brush and cleaning it into your bin. The lint waste will absorb any oil so clean it out with each use.

Then apply the oil to the looper points.

You should also rub a little bit onto the blades, you usually can lift the upper blade/swing it away from the lower so do this and clean them both with a cloth that has a dab of oil on it, then lower it back into position.

Then serge for a bit on waste just to make sure its not too oily on the blade for your good fabric.

Hope this assists you, I'm guessing you don't have the manual but always good to obtain if you can - you can buy one here. http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/instruction-manual-brother-925D.aspx

My needles hit and seperate

Make sure that you thread your machine in the exact sequence your manual tells you to, and that when you thread your machine, it is powered off, and the presser foot is up. If, you have a hard time seeing your manual, go to www.brother-usa.com support and then choose home sewing and embroidery, and then select your model # 925d and download your free manual. I have the 1034d and did not thread the upper looper first (3rd from the left) and it caused me grief. Now, I remember to follow the instructions exactly. Seems that the thread will loop around the lower looper if you don't do it right. Try this and if that does not work call Brother at 1-877-276-8437 and ask them.
