Brother SE-270D Computerized Sewing Machine - Page 3 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
My machine shows FO4 message.
There are 2 things that cause the F04 error. 1 - Wrong foot control: If you have 2 machines, you might have them mixed up between machines.2 - Burned out foot control.Bring the machine to a Brother shop; try the new foot control on your machine before you buy it. The part number is XC7290051Alternative Part Numbers Include XC6651321, XC6651221, XC6651121, XA3931051, XC1154051 & XC6651051
Thread not feeding
The threading mechanism is jammed or out of alignment inside the machine, there is nothing you can do yourself. Bring it to a Brother repair shop, the mechanism is too complicated for a generic sewing machine repair shop to repair.
The piece that looks like sharp metal under the foot dose not work
That is called your feed dog. Remove any embroidery attachments and check for a switch that allows you to lower the feed dogs. It should be on the back side of the machine directly behind the sewing area. Another possibility is that you have it in bobbin winding mode.... but then your needle wouldn't work either.
Bobbin trouble
try a different bobbin and see if that helpsalso there could be something wrong with the hook and hook racethose parts may need to be checked
Thread wont loop, it doesn't sew?
It loops, it's just that your shuttle isn't catching the loop. The loop is formed on the upstroke of the needle on the back or "scarfed" side of the needle. If the shuttle point doesn't catch that loop, no stitch. First make sure you have a fresh needle. If still no stitch... take it in for service. (clean, lube and time)
Thread bunching and bobbin winder quit
This sounds a lot like you've forgotten to lower the presser foot. (this leaves the tension discs open and causes serious issues below the material.) Double check that and if still having issues post again.
Fo4--What does it mean and where do I find the translations?
F04 is foot control error. It is probably a bad foot control, but it may be the plug in on the machine or a circuit board. You can run the machine without a foot control for now; just unplug the foot control from the machine and use the Start/Stop button like you would when embroidering. Before
replacing the foot control, you should bring the machine to a Brother
shop and try a new control. If the new one works, then the control was
the problem.
My brother 270D keeps shutting off
Take your machine back to the other side of the house. See if it works better there. If it does have an electrician come out and check the new location's power. There may be a problem in the houses wiring.
