What is there to install? If I plug a usb flash drive into any of my usb's ports & than open windows explorer, I'll see the drive listed in the right panel at the end of my current devices. I can move data, music what ever back & forth. Your's should be no different. Unless you have a bad cable or your drive is a direct connect & something is wrong with its connector.

Is the USB port you are connecting the stick to enabled in your BIOS?. Is the Port on your Mobo or on a seperate PCI slot.

Is that one of the PCChips boards that has a jumper to enable/disable writing to the BIOS (Basic Input Output System? If it has a hard drive in it, disconnect or remove the hard drive, and then reset the BIOS, by removing the BIOS battery for 5 minutes, then put the (good?) battery back in, and boot it up without any hard drive. I have seen such behavior before, due to malware such as TDL4, and also "BadBios!" Those malware systems can OVERWRITE any unprotected BIOS with modified code!
