Loud noise burning smell

please describe the noise? Burning smell like plastic? It's a laser printer, so it's possible that the fuser is an issue. Is there a paper jam in the printer under the fuser?

Get an 'unable to print 6f' error for my MFC-8370 machine.

https://help.brother-usa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/145079/~/unable-to-print-6f https://help.brother-usa.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/145079/~/unable-to-print-6f "Unable to Print 6F" The message "Unable to Print 6F" will appear on the display for one of the following reasons: i. A foreign object, such as a paper clip or ripped piece of paper, is stuck in the machine; ii. Mechanical malfunction. To attempt to clear the error, continue to step 1. 1. Using both hands, use the finger holds on each side of the machine to life the scanner cover into the open position. - Do you see the scanner cover support arm located on the left side of the machine? - If yes, go to step 2. - If no, verify you have opened the scanner cover (as in the image above). If the document cover was opened, you won't see the scanner cover support arm. Close the document cover and go back to step 1 to open the scanner cover. 2. Carefully check the left (2) and right (3) hand corners and the center inside the machine and remove any paper scraps that may be jammed. 3. Using your hand, move the print head from left to right, checking carefully for any paper scraps stuck under the print head. Remove any if found. If the print head is in the right-hand corner, press and hold down the for at least 5 seconds until the print head moves to the middle. This will allow you to check the right corner inside the machine for any paper scraps. 4. Leave the scanner cover open and turn the machine around so you are looking at the back of the machine. 5. Open the Jam Clear Cover (1) on the back of the machine. 6. Check inside for any foreign objects or jammed paper. Remove it found. 7. Close the Jam Clear Cover, then turn the machine back around to the front. 8. Lift the flat-bed scanner cover to release the lock (1), then gently push the scanner cover support down (2) and close the scanner cover (3) using both hands. - If "Unable to Print 6F" still on the display, go to step 10. - If "Unable to Print 6F" has cleared, go to step 11. 10. Unplug the machine from the power outlet for approximately one-minute, then plug it back in. - If "Unable to Print 6F" still on the display, go to step 12. - If "Unable to Print 6F" has cleared, go to step 11. 11. Print a Print Quality Check Sheet (PQCS). a. Press on the Touchscreen. b. Press Test Print. c. Press Print Quality. d. Press OK. A PQCS will print. - If the PQCS print successfully, your machine is working properly. The issue has been resolved. - If the PQCS doesn't print because "Unable to Print 6F" reappears and you have not cycled the power, go back to step 10. - If the PQCS doesn't print because "Unable to Print 6F" reappears and you have cycled the power, continue to step 12. 12. Your machine will require service. Any faxes received while the error message is on the display will automatically go into the machine's memory due to the product's inability to print. If there are faxes in memory, you can transfer them to another fax machine so they are not lost. - If you don't want to transfer faxes, go to Warranty and Service Options. - If you want to confirm and transfer received faxes in memory, go to step 13. 13. Transferring stored faxes to another machine. To transfer data from your fax machine to another fax machine, you must have already programmed the Station ID in your machine prior to getting the "Unable to Print 6F" error message. If you did not already have your Station ID programmed into the machine before getting the error, you will not be able to transfer faxes in memory. Continue to Warranty and Service Options. a. Press to temporarily interrupt the error message. b. Press on the Touchscreen. c. Press All Settings. d. Press ? or ? to display Service. Press Service. e. Press Data Transfer. f. Press Fax Transfer. - If "No Data" appears there are no faxes in memory to transfer. Press , then continue to Warranty and Service Options. - If there are faxes in memory, the display will prompt to enter a fax number. Enter the fax number including the 1 plus the area code, then go to step g. Warranty and Service Options. Warranty and Service Options: Your machine has a two-year limited exchange warranty. Using an MFC-8840D MP Tray,

Hi, I understand. You can try to uninstall and re-install the drivers for the printer and try it printing again. If the problem still occurs. you need to let a technician take a look at the printer. There could be a mechanical issue inside the printer that is why even if you cleaned the roller it stops.
Hope this Helps. Thank for using Fixya.

I have a mfc-8440, 5

This is very easy to solve. Remove the drum and toner cartridge. Look into the machine where they sat. Now look up and you will see (a little aukward but its there) a glass plate the width of an A4 sheet of paper. Run your finger accross it. Look at your finger and will probably be dirty. This is the window the laser beam passes thru to hit the drum. When its dirty it does not allow enough ;light to the drum hence a weak beam and light printing.

My MFC-8440 had a paper

For that you need to check fuser assembely inside the printer. It is in the back side of printer where paper moves around roller. Open the back cover and find fuser assembely then open roller and make sure there is not any broken parts. If roller is torn or burnt then need to change roller. Reconnect fuser assembely then check. You need to repair fuser assembely if you don't have enough experience on printer then it is better to repair fuser assembely at authorised service center but if you have confidence then you can repair fuser assembely . Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Brother MFC-8440 Machine Error Code 7A - tried to

Hello thanks for using FixYa
Error code 7A occurs in different forms and they are linked directly to errors caused due to calculations as detected by GPU, however, it is still doubtful what exactly cause these GPU errors in hardware and the errors in WU. Keep in mind that this error code could also suggest that the main PCB is broken.

For the error code 7A to be fixed permanently, you need to ensure that the main PCB is fine and is working in good condition. If the error code is caused due to malfunctioning of the main motor, then you need to check the whole setup by connecting it with another motor. In this case, make sure that there is no mechanical load present on the main board. While fixing this error code, you will notice that the motor runs slowly initially and then picks up the speed later.

I hope this solution will helpful 4 u
