If your Hotpoint washing machine is not starting after you replaced the electric door switch, there could be a few different issues causing the problem. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

There are no internal fuses on washing machines. If the fuse is 'in the plug', it sounds like you are in the UK. In the US and Canada, our fuse is the contact breaker in the master switch board. Did you replace it with a 13 amp fuse? Did you check the fuse with a multimeter or in another device known to work? Could you be a bit more specific as to what this "Almighty noise" is? It will help to work out where the issue actually is. Is it a thumping noise? A rattling noise? a grinding noise? A humming noise? Can you post images of the sheared off piece of metal?

Hi, Please check the associated fuse in the fuse box of your home. We want to ensure that it's not been turned off or blown out (and needing replacement). Then, you can check the power source located at the washing machine itself to ensure that it still has juice by power items other than the washing machine. Thank you.

That sounds like the inlet valve has failed in the closed position. If you see some water coming into the washer initially, then one of two inlet valves is not working. Depending on the washer, you may have to replace the entire inlet valve assembly. Most washers have a pressure switch or flow sensor that detects if the expected amount of water has reached the tub. If the flow isn't there, then the washer will stop. (If water goes into the washer and then gets pumped out, check the position of the drain hose. remove the front kick strip, on the LHS you will notice a yellow tag. with the power on on the machine pull down twice gently on this tab. this should unlock the door.

if you now notice the drum is full of water its more than likely your filter is blocked and this is what caused the door not to open.

Is your washer plugged into a groundfault receptacle if it is and the ground fault receptacle is tripping you need to use less soap in your washing machine or change the receptacle to a non ground fault like a regular 120 V receptacle. the suds are coming down the side of the washer inside and getting some of the electronics Damp and that is tripping out the ground fault receptacle.

Twisting together and electrical tape is not a safe fix with 110 volts and water around. You need crimp connectors and heat shrink sleeving.
