Sounds like my bearings are on the way out as it is extremely noisey on my Hotpoint WMA76P washing machine whilst on spin. Any idea how much it would cost for an engineer to fix? Someone told me that

Regardless of the age, I'll be honest with you. Any company, even the ones that have a really low overhead, are going to charge you an arm and a leg to do that repair. It's very time consuming, the parts are not that cheap and it is a pain to do. The average price for a bearing kit repair runs easily at minimun $400 dollars. Then you have the problem with making sure you get a tech that actually knows what they are doing. The only reason I can perform this job is because I worked for a whirlpool warranty company and the customers weren't liable for repair. In other words, its cheaper, and less stressful to just get a new machine. If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/jason_4570d45317834dd3

We live in NZ and

The timer will add on time if the water is cold or the heating element is taking too much time to heat the water. Check both inlet water screens in the back of the unit (clean as necessary) and.... do a continuity test on the heating element with the power secured / OFF. If the heating element is open you will most likely experience the symptom you currently have. Stokes AU can get your parts: http://www.stokesap.com.au

FYI if you can find a GE Appliance dealer they also work on Hotpoint. (Other than the name they are pretty much the same unit)
It appears the only GE dealer is in AU here:
Andi-co Australia ' www.andico.com.au
  • 1 Stamford Road, Oakleigh. Victoria
  • 3166
  • Telephone = 61 03 9569 1255
  • Email = [email protected]
They would also be a source for parts.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

How do i apply the

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Methinks you could do with a manual- for all eventualities!
You will need to type into your search engine/web browser '(make) washer manual' and you should be presented with a number of sources from which you can either download for free or have to pay a nominal amount. During the process you will be asked for the actual model number!
You could also try the manufacturer's web site direct.

If this has assisted you please score accordingly.
Thanks and good luck!

No spin cycle

Hi,
Make sure door mechanism is working at fine. So next is to check whether the motor tumbles both directions.
The spin bearing might be a problem, but normally you'd hear a problem here first. Have you heard any freight trains passing through the house in the spin cycle?
One thing to check for this problem is the spin speed switch. If the spin speed switch is bad then the control won't know how fast to spin, and so it will just not spin at all.
The drain pump must be draining all the water out. If the water doesn't drain out then the pressure switch won't read empty and that might prevent a spin cycle.

I hope this helps.

Does the wma76 hotpoint need a hot water feed? Is

Hi from retired Englishman in France (it's 21:29!),

If your washer has 2 pipes for feeding water then one is for hot and the other is for cold naturally.
All washing machines have a water heating element in them- in case any hot water supply is not hot enough for its wash.
If you only have a cold tap you will need to purchase a 'Y' connector. This screws onto the cold tap supply (single end) and the hot and cold feed pipes connected to the washer screw onto the other two ends. The machine will now be fooled into thinking it has two separate feeds!
The machine opens the valve for the 'hot' water supply (which of course is cold) and the heats it up to the required temperature for the wash cycle. Afterwards, when the machine requires cold water for rinsing, it opens up the 'cold' supply (which is the same supply as for the hot water!) and is happy.

Hope this answers your question.

Hotpoint WMA76 - been on a normal wash cycle but

Remove drain outlet hose from point where it discharges into waste pipe, and lay the hose down into a bucket or bowl, this should let the water syphon out, enabling you to open the door.

What is the procedure to replace the door seal on

For most front-loaders:
Lubricate the slot which fits over the tub with washing-up fluid. Starting at the top, press the seal so the flange of the tub enters the slot on the seal. Work your way round the using thumbs to force the slot on the tub flange. When slot is on the flange all way round, fit the spring which holds it on. The spring goes into a slot on the outside of the seal. This is quite difficult and you may need another pair of hands. Fit the outside of the seal to the cabinet - this is easy and fit the plastic clamping ring.
Test for leaks before using. Use rinse to test as the water level is higher.
(There is no glue anywhere, only clamps, etc)

Light of a red tap

This is indicating a problem with the water supply, check the inlet hose/s for a restriction or kink in the hose/s.
Make sure the tap/s are fully turned on, and that there is a good water prerssure.

Thin belt on back of drum broken

When you say the thin belt I assume you mean the drive belt.
Hook the new belt on the motor pulley and onto the main drum pulley as far as it will go, hold it on the pulley with a few cable ties. Rotate the inner drum anti clockwise and this will draw the belt onto the pulley and snap the cable ties as it revolves. Use a genuine Hotpoint belt because they contain a carbon fiber content which is designed to counter-act against static electricity, a fault first noticed in these machines some years ago (it can cause the neons to flash and irregular faults to occure)
