Noise like broken bottles

Check that none of the drum paddles are loose or broken.
Spin the drum by hand, andif it feels rough or is rumbling, then the drum bearings have failed.
Check that there is nothing stuck in the pump as well.
Good luck, and a happy new year

Hi my wma64 has stop spinning at speed, turns very

I am not a repair professional. I am a 78 year old man who has been making his own repairs for about 50 years. So the machine ID doesn't mean much to me. I came to fixya looking for a schematic for an really old AM/FM radio and just happened to see that more than 4,700 people were asking for help with a washer repair. I recently had a washer repair of my own and at that time I found an excellent video on youtube which showed me how to take my machine apart. This video (direct drive washer repair) made it possible for me to do my own repair. You probably don't have any idea of the wonderful help you can get from youtube videos. Your first stop should be at youtube. Just search for the help you need. You could search for "clothes dryer repair" or "clothes washer repair" or "dishwasher repair". If you are not able to view and/or download the videos, or after you've seen all you want to see, I suggest you go directly to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good step by step trouble shooting and repair information on washers, dryers. and dishwashers as well as other appliances. Another excellent site is www.acmehowto.com If you have a direct drive top load washer and need help taking it apart these youtube videos are wonderful help. I was so impressed with them that when I saw all these people needing help, I wanted to tell them about the videos. If you look at the back of your top load washer and the panel is solid (no small inspection plate to remove, which would indicate you have a v-belt drive) chances are you have a direct drive and this video (direct drive washer repair) is just what you need. After you've seen all the appropiate videos, or if you have a belt drive washer, you will probably still need help in determining what the trouble is and how to fix it. I suggest you go to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good trouble shooting and repair nformation on most washers and dryers, dishwashers and many other household appliances. I think you'll find what you need there. Another excellent site for DIY help is www.acmehowto.com Don't worry about the timer on a washer, they hardly ever go bad. I realize I haven't solved your problem for you, but I hope I have sent you where you can get help to solve the problem. Good luck with it.

You need to clean the filter.
Remove lower rear panel of washer.
Remove large black hose fastened to boittom of drum.
Remove and clean plastic filter inside hose.
Remove hose onto pump, and check for obstruction or blockage here as well.
Hope this helps.

There is a smell of stale water in my machine and

run your washer once on a qick cycle with bleach and afterwards and after every load leave the door open. the smell is mildew which is common with all front loaders. if you leave the door open the moisture will dry and your odor problem will go away.

THE DOOR ON MY HOTPOINT WMA64 DOES NOT REGISTER AS

The most common cause of this is the sensor wire inside has vibrated loose and is no longer making a connection to the switch. Those switches rarely fail. It's a very easy fix, only need a screwdriver. I would, however, use a small plastic ziptie to hold the wire to the switch.

If you do not have water on the floor under the washer, then your tub is fine. You could have a drain solenoid valve problem.

Very noisy on spin

hello there.....the noise you hear is most likley due to failed drum bearings or something trapped in the drum....test as follows....isolate machine....open the door...test the drum for up and down lift...there should be no movement at all....if all is well here...remove the lid and remove drive belt....spin the drum by hand and listen for any bearing noise (rumble). or metallic sound of something trapped in drum..if all is well here refit the lid temp...Then select spin and start machine...if motor is noisy then the problem is with the motor bearings

Hotpoint aquruis washing machine wont spin

These machines have a common fault. If yours has no visible filter, the filter is in the rubber waste tube, just below the drum.
Most faults on these machines are due to a blockage or build up of sludge and lime scale in this area.
This also affects the pressure switch, which is linked by a plastic tube to the same place! This will cause the machine to stick, and not spin, otr to spin with water in the drum causing vibration.
Firstly check the outlet hose and the plumbing where the outlet goes to for signs of sludge and lime. Unless you have very soft water or a water softener, there will be some! Usually lots!
Clean this out.
Disconnect the machine from the mains and the water supply and pull it into a clear area.
Put a thick cloth on the floor and gently lay the machine on its left hand side, looking from the rear,
Undo the small panel on the back and you will see the black rubber concertina hose, pressure chamber and pump, which are now all easily accessible from the rear and the botom of the machine.
Undo the circlips with a screwdriver and the special plastic clips with a pair of pliers by twisting each part in the opposite direction.
Take the whole hose off. You find a filter and a "ping pong ball" inside this.
Clean it all out as thoroughly as you can. At the same time clean out the plastic pressure chamber and the pump. you might need to use a proprietary limescale remover or vinegar to do this.
You will usually find a few buttons, plastic items, paper, couins and a load of sludge!
Put the whole lot back, The plastic clips slide together with a toothed grip.
The whole job should take about half an hour and the machine will be like new.

Hotpoint wma 64 machine seems to work ok but not turning

hi friend,
Is your washer getting power? The first things to check if your washer suddenly stops working are your circuit breaker, lid switch, or fuse box. After making sure there is power to the appliance, you can start troubleshooting other problems. To verify there is power at the outlet, try plugging in a small electric appliance such as a hair dryer or radio.
Sometimes the motor will overheat and then requires a cool down period before it will restart.
Is the machine in a pause cycle? Is the lid up? Washers will not spin or agitate if the lid is up. There is a lid switch probe that can sometimes become dislodged. This is generally a little plastic piece that is in the hole under the lid on the washer. This probe activates the lid switch when the lid is put down. Manually advance the timer if the pause is too long.
There are some washer models out there that will not run at all until the water is filled to the level that has been selected. Sometimes the mechanical timer knob on certain washers doesn’t exactly line up with the graphics on the control panel. You can try advancing the timer slightly and pull the knob out again to see if it will start.
hope this helps u
