HP Pavilion F50 17" Flat Panel LCD Monitor - Page 2 Questions & Answers
It flickers periodically from light to dim
You may have a problem with the screen's back light. It could be a ballast that may go bad or the light itself may go bad or loose connections in those areas may cause it. Check as well the data cable or check if a different cable would work.
Re-connected computer after non-use for about 90
"monitor not cooperating"

check using variuos frequency> the option is in display adapter properties.

Blinking screen
I'm seeing alot of leaking caps on the power supply cause this issue. It can also be T-Control board faulty, or even main board. Is it flickering constantly, or once warmed up?
Monitor has shadows from left to right
Try changing the cable that connects the monitor to the computer, that might improve things slightly, but because you said that it works for the first 15 minutes I'm skeptical that the cable has anything to do with it.
The monitor is near the end of it's life. There's not much that can be done.
My HP monitor (f50) has malfunctioned
Try these 2 steps if they don't work get back to me :)
Step 1. Connect the video cable and turn on the computer. What happens?
-
If
the monitor screen remains blank (no startup screens or onscreen
display messages), the monitor must be connected to another computer
using a different cable to determine if the monitor is bad. Skip to the
Step to connect the monitor to another computer.
-
If the monitor is capable of displaying boot screens but is unable to
display Windows, use the following steps to set the computer to a
compatible resolution:
NOTE:
Find
the native display resolution for your monitor in the User Manual or in
the product specifications for the monitor model. If you are unable to
find the native display resolution for your monitor model, temporarily
use 1024x768 for troubleshooting purposes.
-
Turn on the computer and press the
F8
key repeatedly when the first startup screen appears.
-
If you are using Windows Vista, select
Enable low resolution video (640 x 480)
, press
Enter
, and wait until Windows opens. To set display settings that match the monitor, use the steps in the HP support document,
Changing Display Settings, Background Image, and Screen Saver in Windows Vista
.
If you are using Windows XP, select
Enable VGA Mode
, press
Enter
, and wait until Windows opens. Continue using these steps to set display resolution.
If you are using Windows 98 or ME, select
Safe Mode
and perform the following steps to enter into a standard VGA mode:
-
Once Windows opens to the desktop in Safe Mode, click
Start
, and
Run
.
-
In the Open field type
msconfig
and press
Enter
.
The MS Configuration Utility window appears.
-
Click the
Advanced
button, and select
VGA 640 x 480 x 16
if it is available.
-
Click
OK
and restart the computer.
-
After Windows opens, click
Start
, and then click
Run
.
-
In the Open field type
msconfig
and press
Enter
.
-
Click the
Advanced
button, and remove the checkmark next to
VGA 640 x 480 x 16
.
-
Click
OK
. Do NOT restart the computer.
-
After Windows opens, right-click on an open area of the desktop and select
Properties
(Windows XP, 98/Me) or
Personalize
(Windows Vista).
-
In Windows Vista, Scroll down and click
Display Properties
.
In Windows XP, 98, or Me, click the
Settings
tab.
-
In Windows Vista, select the native display resolution size using the Resolution slider. Set Colors to
Highest (32 bit)
.
In Windows XP, select the native display resolution size using the Screen resolution slider. Set Color Quality to
Highest (32 bit)
.
In Windows 98 or Me, select the native display resolution size using the Screen Area slider. Set Colors to
True Color
.
-
Click
Apply
after you have made your adjustment.
The screen should blank out temporarily and come back.
-
If you are satisfied with the new display settings, click
Yes
on the Monitor Settings windows. If you are not satisfied or if the
screen just goes black, wait: Windows sets the screen back to the way
it was before. Try another setting until you find a display
configuration that is compatible with the monitor and meets your needs.
NOTE:
If
the native resolution is not available, download and install updated
video driver software for your computer. Updating the video driver
software can add more resolutions (graphics modes).
-
Restart the computer. The monitor should now display a full screen image in high quality. You are done.
Step 2: Connect to another monitor
Using
a different cable, connect the monitor to another computer that has
video. Turn on the monitor and the newly connected computer. What
happens?
-
If
the monitor works, the video hardware on the original computer is
likely to be the source of the problems. You can try connecting the
original computer to another monitor that works to update its video
drivers.
-
If the monitor remains blank, repair or replace the monitor.
External monitor cannot stop moving
You need to right click on the desktop, select properties and then settings. Change the resolution to be correct (or smaller) than that of your monitor.
I suggest you start with 800x600 and then work your way up till it starts scrolling again. then go down 1 resolution.
Computer gets Stuck in Startup
Try tapping 'F8' as the computer powers up.
This should bring up the advanced options menu.
Highlight 'Safe Mode with Networking' +enter
Let the PC boot into safe mode
Then click
'start'>>programs>>accessories>>system tools>>system restore....
Pick a restore point before the problem started and let system restore run its course and reboot the pc.
System recovery
First, turn off your PC, then turn it back on and insert the Recovery Disk right away and turn the PC back off as soon as you put the recovery disk inside. Turn your computer back on and it should give you the recovery options.

Supplying power to the monitor to get it to work
I think what you need is a "D" shell connector.. see if the one that fits your PC Power Supply will fit into the Monitor.. if so then purchase another the same. It's called a "D Shell" Power Cord.
Removing virtual drive
It depends what program you used to add it in the first place. Open the software and look for settings, or just uninstall it.
What causes a red screen when starting up?
no pc told, Pavilion means zerothat name is is used on desktops and laptops for agesthe HP has diagnostics so run those. HP.com tells how.not told desktop or laptops. just 1 word."Screen"first Pavilion was 1995
What does a HP laptop notebook with model number A6Y530A look like
learn to google mate.
this is no secret, gee millions sold.
A6Y530A
the partsurfer shows true model, and fails
this is the only post here ever asking for reverse code lookups
on models fake, and is not easy in vast cases
I guess you have no such PC, (look like)
so why ask this>? what prompted this quest>? not told
why not ask seller for photos of it if this is a pre sales question , is it>?
google and bing and HP all show that model # is BOGUS
so go back to your sell and ask the we can not guess PCs ever.
HP product ID# is best on the service tag for SURE.
where did you see this number, not told.
or that number is some 20+ year old COMPAQ PC ,lost in the sands of time, and no google hits.
you posted to HP forum, (not real) Hp.com is real
Hp pavilion g series manual
what does not working mean (KBD) dead, or 1 key bad or row. what?
symptoms matter most, for sure in a LAPTOP IS IT
the word Pavilion is on laptops and desktop, dig?
G mean zero , the service tag does not just say "G" sorry.
easy peasy lemon squeezy
HP.com
complex URL no?
go there
tell them your model # or better the service tag code ! .
then magically HP puts you on YOUR service support page
and all manuals and all driver before your eyes. amazing no?
NO told at all
or of a laptop or desktop or what./?
you posted ANON so I can't just read other posts by you to learn what PC this is , no I can not.
there are over 100 PC called G series, and vast years.
some PCs by them G1 to 7 are generations, like
HP Pavilion g6-1029tx Notebook.
if you can find the service tag the product ID # is what matters most
this code includes (real model, version , options and country sold)
see this, older PCs by them had this.
see that , all matters but do not post SN/ or service codes in public.
mine: procuct code (nnnnnnABA#)
https://www.pcdied.com/TAG-jive/tag-elite8540w.JPG
I will guess it is 17" laptop, here is the mess just that 1 sized

The airplane mode button is stuck on orange although my computer say's airplane mode off
old PCs do that, for many reasons. but no PC told at all just HP.
40 years of PCs ,10000 + models nobody can guess ever.
but I do have the answer, in pure generic form.
did you buy the PC like that used and bad Wifi. ?
- the wifi card is missing, as was super common 10+ years ago.
- someone put in the wrong card, not from HP list
- HP blacklists (bios blocks) none HP cards (wifi)
- the card needs a driver to work if not it is dead or 1/2 dead.
- the PC needs 1 more driver to make the wifi buttons all work , all buttons related, if not they are dead or act odd.
- The OS is infected, no OS told at all, not one clue nor if upgraded the OS, and not vast drivers are wrong or missing, (classic)
Im sure this this is not the free w10 upgrade, if it was that too kills drivers dead, for sure HP told you this unstated PC will not run W10 and has zero support from HP, on w10 AS YOUR SUPPORT PAGE WILL DISCLOSE TO YOU AT HP.COM
