Screen Adjustment

On your monitor at the bottom there is 3 buttons. The one all the way to the left is the "menu" button. The next one (going right) is the "NEGATIVE" button. The next one (going right) is the "POSITIVE" button.

You can move your screen around. First, start by pressing the menu button. Then, a menu in blue, with a bunch of little white icons will appear. Next, go over two icons by pressing the positive button twice. Then, proceed to push in the "menu" button again. A bar will appear. By pressing your negative button, your screen will move left. Pressing your positive button will make your screen move right. Adjust your screen until the black on both sides are of even proportion. Then, press the menu button to return to the orginal menu you started at. Proceed to press your positive button two more times. Then, press your menu button. Then, once again, use your positive button, and your negative button to adjust your screen to even out the black on the top and bottom.

Hi we have a compaq

You may try messing with the settings on the monitor. The menu buttons are usually on the front. Try to find something that deals with the color tones of the monitor. If messing with these settings doesn't fix your problem, then unfortunately, it is probably time to throw it out.

I have compaq 7550 computer

RMB click on the desktop and select properties from the drop down menu.

LMB click on the "Settings" tab.

Select "True colour"

Move the slider to read 1024 X 768.

Change the refresh rate to 50Hz.

This should get you back on an even keel, you should then be able to fine tune the settings to what you prefer.

What is causing my FS7550 Compaq monitor to blink

check if it's correctly pluged in to power jack. also check if the cable who connects monitor and comuter is loose. if it is, then unplug it then plug it again. do that for the power jack. if the monitor does that when your computer is off, or hibernating, don't worry it is completly normal. rate and comment, and thanks for using fixya

The screen is tilted

You can adjust the keystone of the monitor..
this will remove the trapezoidal shape and square up the image to the monitor.
Check on the monitor for the menu controls and you should be able to find the keystone adjustments... allows you to adjust the upper width, lower width, etc...

Everything was fine and the all of a sudden screen

the CRT is shorting out which is why its coming on and turning off. If you bring it to an electronics shop it will at least cost $100 assuming they can do something with the CRT. If not then it will be more and you would be better off getting an LCD monitor and they are usually around $125-$140 for a 19" on sale.

Compaq 7550 screen issues

Your monitor is having thermal problems. Some part in the horizontal circuit is changing value as it warms up, and you're seeing the effect. It's possible to troubleshoot this kind of problem by using spray chiller to cool down parts and find the culprit, but labor and parts would probably mean you're better off just replacing it. New LCD's are quite cheap today, and you'll gain extra space on your desk if you get one.
