Problem on hp monitor

I know you said there were others that had the same problem with the Main Menu coming up and I thought I would tell you what I did to fix the problem.

1. I shut down the PC.
2. I removed the power cable and video cable from the back of the monitor.
3. I removed the four screws that hold the stand for the monitor and slid the stand off.
4. I then removed the 5 screws that hold the back cover on the monitor.
5. I took two flat blade screw drivers and carefully removed the back cover.

At the bottom of the monitor case, there is a small circuit board the holds the 6 switches for controlling the display.

6. I located the button that calls up the Main Menu. It is the second switch from the left as you are looking at the monitor from the rear.
7. I used a small solder iron and heated up the four prongs in sequence while holding the switch with a pair of needle nose pliers. I had to rotate this process from one prong to the other while all the time applying slight pulling pressure on the switch pulling it away from the circuit board.
8. Once the switch was removed, I put the cover back on and tightened up the five screws.
9. Then I slid the base back in the slot it came from and tightened the four screws.
10. I connected the video and power cable and turned on the PC.

With the switch removed the Main Menu never popped up again and I am so very happy.

How do i get the sound to work

How is the setup? You should try feeding the monitor with audio source such as MP3 player to see if you get the sound OK fist, if you do, tthen the problem is in your PC. Post back what you find so we can guide you further. The the sound amplifiers are bad in the monitor, there is no use to get it fixed since it will cost mare than a good set of Powered PC speakers.

No display on desktop

Check out the solder connections in the inverter board and also look for caps with elaking/bulging tops. Check to see if you also have 12vdc feeding the inverter circuits.

Pavilion F1523 15" LCD Monitor: will not power up...

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed HP monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

When the monitor is switched on an orange light

your computer is not able to "see" the monitor. Try going into the BIOS settings when u first turn on the computer by pressing F1 or whatever key your computer uses to enter "SET UP". Then, select the F key that will "load default settings". Then, press F10 to "save and exit" and press enter to confirm. If that doesn't work, you either have a bad/incompatable monitor or a problem with connections or the video card or port.

Led light flashes on and off

The high pitch sound can be from the inverter transformers or from the lamps assemblies. You need to open it up and inspect the inside, look at the caps. See my pictures here so you will know what to look for inside.

Cant get monitor to turn on

try another monitor -

if it works - go into monitors and remove the drivers.
Re-install the monitor you are asking about.
If it doesn't work -- it has a problem - if it is LCD - you can get a new one or a good used one a lot cheaper then trying to fix the old one.

Best of it.
