HP Vs17 17" LCD Flat Panel Monitor - Page 7 Questions & Answers
Power light on flashing but no screen
Hello.
There is either a problem with your monitor, VGA cable or PC's video connector. Try another PC or another monitor to narrow down your problem.
If another monitor works, swap the VGA cable on your old monitor.
If another monitor doesn't work, your video connector is faulty.
Hope this helps.
Monitor power light blinks, then goes out. PC screen goes black.
Unplugging the power cord repeatedly is not a good idea! I hope this helps:
1- After you get a picture, go to "Device manager" (Click on Start-Programs-settings-device manager) and make sure that there is not question or an exclamation mark next to Monitors. If that is the case you might need to reinstall the driver!
2- Make sure that your video card is not faulty by hooking up a different monitor and see if it is working ok. If you still have the same problem, then you need to replace the video card.
3- Check all cables and power cords and make sure that there's good connectivity on all ends (before powering up the machine) and that there are no nicks or cuts. If possible try replacing the monitor's data cable as well.
Good luck
Hpvs17e white backround is pink
hucknannie, Power down the pc and monitor. Then disconnect and reconnect the VGA cable a few times to the rear of the pc. then turn system back on and re-boot. If your "PINK" screen still there, then you may need to have unit refurbished with new "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps" or have the internal "switch- mode-power supply/ccfl-inverter-supply" inspected and repaired. No sound after tech cleaned up computer
It sounds like the tech did not reinstall the sound card driver. Do you have the audio cable hook back up between the computer green audio out jack on the PC to the monitor green audio in jack on the monitor?
No sound from built in speakers HP VS 17. Device
Try using MP3 player feeding the monitor to see if you get the sound OK first. Are you using stereo male to male mini jack for connection from PC audio line out (Green jack) to Monitor audio line in (Green jack)?
Placed on different computer upon opening goes to
If it has the same problem iwth moe than one PC's then you will need to open it up and inspect the inside. Please read below so you will have some ideas on what to look for.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Hp monitor
> how do I fix ?
Keep any "pranksters" away from your computer. :-)
The software for your video-card has an option to "rotate" the displayed image, either 90 or 180 or 270 degrees. Some "prankster" has set your video-card to the '180 degrees' setting. Change it back, or turn your monitor upside down. :-)
Screen does not go on.
You may have backlight inverter circuits failure or power supply failure, look inside for bad capacitors in the power supply first since it is easy to do, post back what you see inside so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps, inverter, or lamps:

The image is blinking.
Looks like a bad CCFL lamp, not a user replaceable part. You could have it checked by a local repair shop. If it's the lamp, the while LCD panel needs to be replaced.
