First unlug unit, remove front or back lower panel to expose motor and belt. There will be a roller between the the motor and roller, this is the belt tensioner, loosen this and make belt tighter, then lock down the nut or bolt.

You'll need a voltmeter to properly diagnose most of these.
1)Check to see if you're getting the right amount of power to the dryer
2)Check the Heating element
3)Check the fuse (if any)
4)Check the Thermostat

the black wire that was moving water from down condenser to up - water container - remove it. Use cotton swabs to "clean" the holes, do a run of the dryer without that black wire connected ( carefull, cause some wated might spill at this point), reattach black wire, and enjoy :)It worked for me anyway. ( fingers crossed, its been on for 20 mins and still no red lights flashing)
The back of the dryer got wet and started tripping
Hello Ally,Yes it is the heat element that is broken and touching the heater housing causing it to heat all the time power . Needless to say until the heat element is replaced, the power must be let off to the dryer since it is extremely dangerous in its present condition.Gene

If your
dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a
clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the
dryer cleaning should takeplace.

Hi chrissybeals...
Did you lubricate the rollers with a good grade of machine oil or vasoline before you reinstalled them?
If not then that could be where your noise is coming from.
Also one other thing you can check, make sure your felt dust seal on the front of the drum is good shape and does not have worn or torn spots in it, it also can make noise.
You can also take the machine apart, remove the drum and set it off to the side, and run the motor by itself to see if it is making the noise.

Hotpoint dryer stop working
if its the same as my dryer CTD40 (or similar) then you have to remove the sides to check into the dryer if anything is stuck, i had a plastic burning smell once and found it was one of the runner wheels had dislodged and was scraping on the drum just re-aline the wheel if it is that, they do come off easily if the dryer has been moved, as i found out. also you will find that the sound of the dryer will change, (scrapeing noise) dont let an engineer lie to you and tell you the bearings have gone, (when i say engineer i mean when you call one out NOT Fixit engineers)
Good luck
