Where do I find the heating element in my hotpoint dryer
Heating element is behind the drum. Disconnect power. Use putty knife to release 2 spring clips holding top at front edge of dryer. Swing top back. Remove two screws holding dryer front to sides near open top. Swing dryer front to the side. (you don't have to disconnect the door switch wires) Remove plastic tub block at top center of opening. Release belt. Pull up on back of drum, then pull drum out through the open front of dryer.

Heating elements will not heat
If you dryer is running but not heating then you may have one of the following problems.
Make sure you have 220-240 volts to the machine. If one leg of you breaker has kicked you will only be getting 110 volts this will cause the dryer to run and not heat. Simply kick the breaker off and back on to fix.
If you have enough voltage then you may have a bad thermostat, thermostats or heating element. I recommend you take your heating element off and look for broken lines.check continuity if possible. If the heater is good then go to the thermostats. Check continuity. Replace if you find a bad one. Good luck and I hope this helped.

A scratching noise
One, or both drum idler wheels has failed, the noise is the drum shaving rubber of the now stationary wheel.
Belts and Idlers are a standard item that fit many dryers, and your local parts guy has them on the shelf.
Replace both idlers and the belt at the same time, the other wheel and belt will fail soon cause of the extra load, and they are both as old as the first one, and you dont want to pull the dryer apart twice.

HotPoint Dryer
heating elements in dryers are almost the least likely cause of heating failure, they are solid and have no moving parts, more likely is the thermal cutout, an over temperature fuse that mounts on the element housing

can be tested with any multimeter, zero resistance is good, infinity resistance - burned out

Hotpoint VTDOO dryer works but timer does not move and no reverse

Hotpoint Aquarius dishwasher DWF34S/42 no power - possible fuse blown
Based on your description, it sounds like there was a short circuit in the dishwasher which caused the fuse to blow and the burning smell. It is possible that the burnt connection you are seeing is related to the short circuit.
If you have experience with electrical repairs, you can try to identify and replace the burnt connection. However, if you are not comfortable with electrical work, it is recommended that you seek the assistance of a qualified technician to avoid any potential safety hazards.
In any case, before attempting any repairs, make sure that the dishwasher is disconnected from the power source and that all safety precautions are taken.

The drum wont spin on my Hotpoint CTD00 dryer
Remove top cover, and see if the belt is intact, if it is then it could be the motor is not working for one reason or another, this would entail further investigation.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.
How do I remove bra wire from hotpoint v3d01 tumble dryer
It really depends on where it is stuck, and you don't tell us that. If it is down where the filter is, you can get it with a magnet taped to a stick. If it is between the drum and the outer drum you may be able to open out a coat hanger and pull it towards the edge. Depending on the age of the dryer, it might be time for a full strip-down service and do some maintenance. Grease the bearings, oil the drum slides and remove all the lint that hides inside and causes 'Dryer Fires'.
You are not alone, and there are videos to help you.
