Is there an easy fix to Panasonic AG-DVC7 camcorder error F05, cylinder lock?

when you press the reset button, the first thing the camera does is a self-test of the mechanism. "cylinder lock" is displayed when the video rec/playback head drum (cylinder) motor does not operate or operates intermittently. this is usually caused by a poor connection on the small cable that connects the head drum assembly with the main control circuitry inside the camera. disassembly of the camera is necessary to clean and re-seat this cable, along with the cable that carries the video information to the head drum. I have repaired several of these cameras with this problem. it's not difficult, but an inexperienced repair person can do more damage than help if they're not careful.

What should I do when my laptop fails to boot ?

Try to remove the battery, after switching off, then give it 2 minutes, reboot.....if that fails then maybe the charge is too low for it to start...so charge the battery. If that fails then you have a dead machine!

I have a Panasonic

On the cassette shell is a small sliding door that prevents recording, move it to the record position.
The idea is to protect a valuable tape from being recorded over.

DV download from IEEE1394 to USB port

Exact. Firewire is a protocol. Usb is a different one. Both has nothing in common. Also if you dont have firewire it usually also means you have older computer that may have trouble to handle firewire big video files anyway. Video editing requires dual core cpu and firewire cards, and 30 gig per hour of storage...

Cannot find Driver to dump video onto hard drive

do u have a laptop with firewire port 1394 and port on the Camera it is there ,u can easily connect thru fire wire link with 4 pin cable cable buy a cheap one from store like 10 $ there is no need for buying a branded one bcoz quality is not compromised in any way this is digital signal, if u dont have the laptop with firewire then u have to spend more on PCMCIA FIREWIRE CARD for it or PCI firewire card for desktop which ever u like and then u also need a software to capture the video which i think u have in ur pc , no need for drivers just connect and it will be auto available in the capture devices list of the capturing software, just go and do it

bcoz ur camera is MINIDV TAPE there is no other option to get ut footage on PC for editing

pls rate me if u find me fixya problem

contact me for further help

Importing camcorder to computer

Couple of questions:
Did you record/dump using a battery that may have been low on power?
Are you using a fire wire or USB cord?

Need to replace lens

Hi!
The DVC7 has a 43mm filter thread on its lens. Depending on your Bower's thread size, you may need a step-up or step-down adapter ring to fit it to the DVC.
After checking if you have your sizes correct, you need to remove the DVC7's lens hood. After that, it's just a matter of screwing the wide angle lens to the DVC's lens.
Hope this helps!

Dew detection

try getting a head cleaner for the camera and see if that works. If not then moisture mas seeped into the cameras circuits and caused a short circuit. seems like the only way to fix it, is to have it sent back to the manufacturer for repair.

Horizontal stripes on play back

the stripes are caused from one of the heads on the dd cylinder not updating. you need to stick a head cleaner in, if that does not solve the problem then either the head is going need a thorough clean or it is damaged. it will need replacing.
