Hitachi DZ-MV350A DVD Camcorder - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

Well Im going through the same thing and no one can seem to figure out what is going on. Ive tried all sorts of disc including a DVD-RAM Video 60 and Im still getting the same Error #2881 Code.

Your best bet is to use the drivers from the CD. To do this on windows 7, you'll need to use compatibility mode.Browse to the contents of the cd in windows explorer. Right click on the driver installer file, and select "properties". Select the "compatibility" tab from the properties window, and select "windows xp sp3" from the drop down menu. Also tick the "run as administrator" on the bottom. I did this with my own hitachi DZ_MV350A and it worked just fine.

You can view it through the windows media player. Open my computer, find the file in your dvd drive. Right click and select open with windows media player.
To do any editing you will need to convert it from a vro file to mpeg

Was it recently dropped or bumped in any way? The focus and zoom motors are not activating or limiting. It could be misaligned or slipping gears. Listen for motor running as you press the appropriate function - such as manual focus or zoom. If you hear anything then the motor are running but not adjusting the lens - therefore the gear is loose and/or the motor is slipping. It must be taken apart to repair.

I figured it out out of frustration. I used a small flat head screwdriver & gently pryed it open just above the control for turning it on/off. Inside I found that the mini-DVD was shoved in there outside of the mini-DVD sleeve thus causing a perpetual jam. Works OK now as long as my kids don't mess with it!

i have a camcorder too im using it for some capturing videos on some places. i have webcam for chats and capturing pictures on a computer.so i suggest that use a webcam instead of camcorder. it will be pretty easy to use.

but if you want to use your camcorder as a webcam heres my help. all brand new camcorders have their own cables like usb, adapter, cd drivers, etc.. In interface on your camcorder just plug the usb to your computer. make sure that the computer will detect your camcorder. It will notify you for the installation of your device. If the computer searching for the drivers hardware just insert the cd driver included on the package of your camcorder. install it and when the computer will say that "your device is all ready to use" it means that the computer and your camcorder ready for some capturing moment or can use it as a webcam. i myself is using a yahoo messenger. the best way to apply for some devices like webcams and camcorders. it can easily detected.

I had the same problem with mine. I contacted Hitachi, and the only solution was to send it to the dealer for repair. I live in Las Vegas and the closest dealer is in Carson, California, so I shipped it. It took about 3 weeks and was quite expensive, but it worked after that. Now I am having the "error code 2881" problem when I try to record with a DVD-RW. According to this website, our camcorder does not support that, it only uses DVR-R or DVR Ram. I am off to the store to buy some, and will let you know if it works.

Have you tried turning off the auto focus ?

I have the gx5020a camera, and found out that the VRO file is just MPEG2. So copy the VRO file onto your computer from your disc. Once its on your harddrive, you can right click on it and go to properties. Re-name your file from VRO to MPG, making sure that you still have the original VRO file in case you need it for other programs. Once I change it to MPG file name, I can use media player to play it and I have a DVD movie maker where i can edit and record to DVD.

It clearly seems that these two programs you are talking about are conflicting with each other. There are two scenarios on which we can work.

At this point of time what i would suggest you is to uninstall the program which came with the DVD Camcoder and Reinstall it again.

If it still does not work than you need to uninstall the Photoshop premier Elements and than check whether the Hitachi DVD software is working or not.

If it is working than you may have to compromise using the Photoshop premier Elements.

Note :- To uninstall a program you need to go to the "Control Panel" and you need to open "Add and Remove Program". Here you will see the list of programs installed on your computer, You may highlight the one you want to uninstall and click on "change/remove".

To install the Hitachi Software you can use the disk you have got with the DVD Camcoder.

Caution : Before you uninstall the Hitachi software make sure that you have the Hitachi software disk with you to reinstall it.

This error is a read error-- try buying a cleaning disc and using it, or using a new, fresh disc. Likely the read/write optics are dirty.

Hi, Please use the yellow pages website to find a camera shop that can help fix your camera. If that does not work, you can take it to your local Geeksquad/Bestbuy and they can work on the camera for you. Otherwise, you might also call Hitachi directly to ask them about the nearest repair shop that you could send the camera to. Thank you.
