Tape can not be inserted backward in.It is impossible to to insert cassette inside video wrong way.
If it is not ejecting its eject switch might have got broken by physically pulling its cassette compartment outward before closing last time.
Its mini switch is very fragile in all sony models. so only way is to take to technician to bring it out.If i were you,I would buy used one from ebay at lower price than repairing.

Sony camcorder ccd-tr5- caution led blinking
Hi,
After buying a similar unit (cheaply) , I have researched the problem, and found that a batch of faulty components are likely to blame.
In 1997 , a Tiwanese company stole a secret formula for Electrolytic capacitors. Unfortunately - it was a double bluff, and the formula they stole was incomplete. They began manufacture, and sold the components on to Sony, Chinnon, Apple and other manufacturers. The components typically have a usable life of between 2 and 6 years, then start leaking electrolyte (which smells of fish,) and corrodes the connections and the board. The only solution is to remove the boards and replace them or rework the boards replacing all electrolytic capacitors - which is labour intensive.
Unfortunately "fake" components are on the market, and can cause various problems from sporadic faults to a full blown fire risk.
If your camcorder smells bad inside - suspect the components are leaking. Most service engineers consign these units to the bin as repair is difficult. If your unit has just started to give an error or started smelling - then ask service engineers to replace the electrolytic capacitors. As these are surface mount components - they are VERY fiddly to do properly, so factor the cost of rework against a replacement unit.
Units affected are between 1999 and 2007
Fuzzy picture
The tape is not adjusted to cylinder head. Both the sound and picture is lost when the tape is not exact on the wheel (head). If the camera has not been used for a long time then can the adjustable pins start to rotate and change the position of the tape when it is used again. The oil has dried out and the pin is not running smoothly, and the screw starts to rotate as well.
So, the solution.
a) remove the plastic cover so you can see the two pins that pulls out the tape from the cassette.
b ) small droop of oil on the top of the two pins
c ) use a small screwdriver to change positions of the tape, by turning screw on the top of the pins.
Put in the tape again and test , thus you have to do small adjustments. Repeat the test until you see the picture.
This is simple but it will take some time. I have now saved all old films, it is hard to find a old video-8 analog camera ....
