No. To work with 220V~240v; the device need a step down transformer to be connected in between line and device. The transformer [voltage converter] should be used, otherwise; the unit will get damaged. The step down transformer adaptors can be bought locally. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

There is a "dew" sensor inside that is preventing the unit from accepting the tape. This is a safety feature to prevent damage to the tape. If there is any moisture inside, the tape will stick to the heads and get damaged. Open up the unit (eject) and point a hair dryer toward the opening with the dryer about 12" away. Let the warm air flow for 10 minutes or so and try the camera again. If that failes to resolve the problem, then either the sensor is defective or the connections to it are defective and the camera should see a servicer for repair.

CCD Failure/Lens Cap Warning Error
JVC has received reports that in certain circumstances, the following models may, while in the camera mode, show no picture, a distorted picture and/or display “LENS CAP” even though the lens cap is removed. We have identified the probable cause as a failure of the CCD image sensor. Repairs of units exhibiting these problems as a result of a defect in the CCD image sensor will be made free of charge at a JVC Authorised Service Centre even if the unit is outside warranty. the auto focus is bad can it be put into manual mode? might need a new lens.

any cable should do, have you tried the back of the pc's usb ports?
try another pc?

open up device manager, right click on your computer icon and select manage, on the management window on the left side select device manager.

find your camera from the device list, note if it has a yellow ! mark or similiar. if a ! is present double click on the camera to get to see the device status info.

wrong connection! you must use firewire to stream video and audio from your cam-make sure comp has connection-called 1394-on cam it's called dv and get proper cable and you will be fine-usb only for pics
