I have a miniDV cartridge
This can be caused by several problems including a defective eject switch in the cameras internal circuitry, a stripped gear or a bad motor. This will require disassembling the camera to repair and can usually be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not really a user serviceable problem and should be repaired qualified service technician.

For that to have a chance at working you will need to have an s-video cable for the picture part and standard audio cables for the sound part...that way the VCR is putting out a digital signal to the camera...
Then follow the setup instructions and make sure that you have it set for input from outside source..
I find that many times the manufacturers test this under very controlled conditions, but often in the real world it does not work so well...

On the right side, front of the camera - just in front of where your hand holds onto the camera are some ports behind a plastic covering that just snaps open for use.

Yes, but you have to read the Japanese to get back to English. I suggest using Google Translate to read the Japanese. Go to the Google page and select "more" and then select "Translate".
DCR-TRV20 Problem when reproducing the video.
THESE HAVE A COMON PROBLEM WITH THE PINCH ROLLER RETAINER. THEY CRACK AND WORK THEIR WAY UP AWAY FROM THE PINCH ROLLER AND SOMETIMES FALL OUT COMPLETELY. IF YOU CAN FIND IT ,THEY CAN BE TRIMMED AND REINSTALLED. LARRY

What is the exact model number of your Sony camcorder? Seems its tele/wide switch is bad and requires replacement.
