Zoom problem
I have the same problem. I hoped it was down to the zoom button on the top of the camera. I dismantled it and eventually got to the button but couldn't find anything loose/damaged or needing cleaned.
Did you ever find a solution?
I am getting screen message;
Please
Hi Berabaz,
This problem is well known for this model , and what you need to do is get it repaired via the service center if it's under warranty or get it repaired via a service center for e.g. California repair center , and they can do it for you for around $100, if your warranty has expired.
They will also give you an extended 30 days warranty period in case the problem starts up again.
That's the best solution for you instead of opening up the camera and then trying out to repair it.
Hope this helps....:)
Recording problem.plays recorded tapes but could
This is usually caused by a defective CCD image sensor and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired qualified service technician.
My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.
If this response has been of any help to you, please be sure and give a positive vote for me on FixYa.com .

JVC Camcoder GR-DX77 has no Picture in Record Mode
Definitely, don't use Sony miniDV tapes! The fault occured because of rough handling of the mechanism during cassete insert or from dropping the camera.A guide arm inside the mechanism is deformed and the mechanism can be changed in whole for this.Contact a JVC authorized centre. The price for this can be half the price of a new camera. After all, it's your fault. This is a good camera if you know haw to handle/ use it!!!
Cam corder
I have the same camera and the original CD ROM. You need ImageMixer 1.7; it handles both USB and IEEE1394 (FireWire) transfers. The only place I've found to get it is from JVC

or

There is an ImageMixer 1.7 Upgrade available from www.imagemixer.com, and from
http://www.pixela-1.com/faq_jvc17/updates.htm
and they cost about $40 as well. Pretty steep.
Zoom malfunction
the zoom control button is malfunctioning. try to clean the contact. check the resistant of the variable carbon. if it is not open, try to adjust the contact point away from the damaged area.
Condensation Problems?
This is a fairly common problem. It requires solder rework of the fpc cable connector form the loading motor ass'y. The sensor is not being properly detected, normally low resistence, located on the ass'y. It is not an amateur repair. Better seek a pro.
Good luck,

Problem charging GR-DX77
check the charger output if it has an DC out voltage about 8.4 volts. If it does not have, your charger is effective.
