How can I convert my 8mm tapes to a digital format
If you have DVD Recorder then hook your Video-8 camera in analog AV input and burn a DVD, this will convert analog video/ audio signal of camcorder in digital format and transfer the data on DVD as well. Put that dvd in computer and save it in computer.

On the power switch. Does it say camera/ player or Camera vtr. If it says player you can not record in vcr as you put it. In the earily days when camcorders were $800 and over ,they all Recorded from line in in the vtr mode. Not any more . See you you can switch to line in mode in the vtr postion however. Why do I see MEMORY STICK ERROR on my Sony camcorder?
Check the memory stick for a little slide lock on the side. Make sure that is not in the locked position. This feature is there to prevent people from recording over special memories, like weddings. But sometimes during handling (or just not knowing) people accidentally switch it to "lock" Good luck

How to copy 8mm tape
You will need an analogue to digital converter box.
You connect the camera to the converter box with analogue cables and connect the A/D box to the PC with a firewire cable.
Note: Many mini DV cameras with analogue inputs can act as an A/D Converter box.

These error codes indicates a malfunction in the tape transport mechanism.
This can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.
