sounds like the LCD screen viewfinder may have been twisted or accidentally catched or got hooked or snagged on on something at one stage and pulled something, if the screen went yellow it means the three wires going to it are possibly broken or the small white clip was slowly coming undone inside the Viewfinder for the red and green to no longer work to complete the image also indicates why the buttons on the viewfinder are not responding, try twisting the viewfinder very lightly whilst on, but most likely the small white clip holding the wires has come off at the elbow inside the camera

Hi, pls check the out put video signal by connecting with an external monitor, if the picture is OK, then there could be fault in the LCD connecting point, must check the flexible connector.

It's rare that this part has to be replaced. Sony.com should have everything you need with download instructions for you individual handycam. Most cases it will automatically update your device if there is newer versions or firmware. I would bet that you can even plug your device into your computer and it will prompt you to look for updates.

IEEE 1394 or firewire is the only reliable method.If you just want to get the footage to a computer for playback only then:There are USB converters on the market.Most covert the files to non-editable codecs so if you wish to edit the footage:You could transcode those file back to DV but this is a bad workflow.Having a computer with a firewire port and appropriate editing software is your best option.

Possible that the linking cord to the display has come off . This is the flexible cord which moves along with the hinges and in most cases it can TEAR off at the hinges due to wearing .
Now you need to remove the display panel screws and the mount to the camcorder, there are small crews on the sides, remove the LCD panel and check the flexible linking cord.
If this is seen to be damaged order the part from Sony and repalce while threading the strip in the same pattern.
If this fault is not seen then the LCD panel or the drive ( mother board ) is the suspect.
You might need help and support in this case as it involves equipment support.

You have broken fine flex cable between your screen and board/PCB causing your touch screen ****** to work. So first of all you need to replace the cable first with new one.
