You could have a bad cathode ray tube or you have a bent pin on the VGA cable.
this could also be due to a color correction circuit on the monitor circuit board.
Your monitor may also have succumbed to age.

Setting via the control panel front bottom of the monitor.

The unit is saying goodbye, in it's special way. There are very limited repairs for CRT's nowadays. A good cheap flatscreen is always available. Trust my word on the CRT's. Sorry. Thank you, Dana

if the monitors tub is old or cold its take sevaral minutes to warm up

can u tell me alittle more of your issue,,
cos non flat screen would not just run half as its sync to all cant have 1 half without the other,,

can u see the whole screen just very small?

You've got components that have gone bad, probably from age and the normal heat inside a CRT monitor case.

I hate to say it, but it's really not worth fixing. You can usually find a used but working 17" monitor for under 20 bucks.

starting with screen, there is a problem with HV transformer and just an expert can fix it. The sound's problem is from your jack's cable. Replace the Jacks and there no must be the problems! Rateme if i've help you. Thanks!

The normal crt monitor have a demo display when you unplug the vga cable to PC like this image below..
Note:
If the crt monitor green LED light steady and heater beam have light, the horinzontal and High Voltage supplied to tube is completely good. If you encountered this problem just focus on video section of crt monitor. But before you start... find the flyback transformer behind this they have two controls screen & focus. After you found it plugin the monitor use plastic precision or small screw philip driver for safety to high voltage at horizontal area choose screen control rotate it to clockwise direction follow this....
If the display responses or from dim to lighter 100% you have a problem to ABL find this at the bottom of horinzontal section near at flyback transformer pins trace the line of ABL for dried solder, open resistor if nothing happen find the Video IC at chroma section and replace it. follow this...

check the vga cable if it is attached properly to your computer. Make sure that the VGA cable is connected to the Video Card that you are using.

check in the manual if you need to install the driver first.

also check if the monitor will work to another computer. If not, Then you can check the VGA Cable and replace a new one.

Hi,
The most likely cause of your problem is your display card and not the monitor. If the monitor led is blinking there is most likely no VGA signal being sent to the monitor. Plug your monitor into a PC that you know is working and check to see if it works through the other pc.
