Hello
Try charging it fully. Also make sure that the battery cover/door if firmly closed. Did your battery behave abnormally before this happened? Like, does it drain much faster now than before?
My husband has 'lost' all
Hello,
definitely fixable. First off stop using that sd card, when a file is deleted it basically just makes it invisible, and lets the device know that the space it occupied is up for grabs. When you plug the camera into the computer via usb cable, or the flash card into a card reader it is mounted on it as a removable hard drive. Using a recovery program you should be able to un-delete anything, that wasn't written over.

This seems like a very strait forward free tool, just point it to the drive letter the card/camera is mounted to, and follow the instructions. If this tool does not work out for you there are plenty of other ones out there to try, not to mention pay versions.
Best of luck!
A small screw fell off
Tape mechanism problems can be quite complicated. This will require disassembling the camera to repair and can usually be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

horizontal lines only
This is usually caused by an oxidized, misaligned or defective Audio/Video drum. You can try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be serviced by a qualified service technician.

I understand that you wish to purchase a Recorder to burn the videos from the Camcorder to DVDs. I'll be glad to assist you with this. You can purchase a
Stand alone DVD Recorder to perform the operation. You can connect the A/V output of the Camcorder to a A/V input of a DVD Recorder to record the videos directly to a DVD disc.
You may use the
Sony DVDirect to perform the same. Please
click hear to view the DVDirect. Please let me know if you require information or questions regarding other manufacturer DVD Recorders. I will get back to you.
Thanks for understanding.

Hi,
Assumption that you are using an old cassette.
Close the cassette door, turn the camcorder back on and try loading a new cassette. If the same problem occurs, your camcorder's cassette housing may be bent. You need to take to service center to get it serviced.
Hope this helps.
Please feel free to ask if you have any further queries.

Cassette wont play keep getting
Hello
this is caused by a malfunction in the tape drive of the unit, a part might be missing, out of place or the drive might be getting stuck.
to correct the problem the unit would need to be taken apart and the drive inspected cleaned, possibly some gears might need lubrication (the type of lubrication that is used in VCR's and other such units) there are many areas to grease and oil. For the inexperienced person the easiest way to find out where to lubricate is to spot the old grease on the mechanisms. Most grease from the factory is either blue or white. All you have to do is give these areas a little dab of fresh grease. Don't over do it. Sometimes to much grease can cause problems,it may smear onto the rubber parts Creating slippage, then you have to go through the process of removing all the grease and that is not easy.
for grease you can use machine lubrication oil if you can find that locally or something similar to this:
http://www.hmcelectronics.com/cgi-bin/scripts/product/3480-0019/GC-Electronics-19-2302the service is quite complex it may be best to take it to a repairer if you feel this is too much. The above is not a guarantee fix, there may be other issues in the drive that we don't know about at this point.
Battery will not charge
If your battery does not seem to charge, then you need to carry out some tests on the device, the battery and the charger. First you insert the battery into another cam corder then you try to charge, if it charges, then it means the battery is okay and if it does not charge, then it means the battery is bad and need to be replaced.
Then i will advice you take the charger and try to charge another device to see if it will work, if it works, then it means the charger is alright but if it does not then it means the charger is bad and need to be replaced.
Finally, test the camcorder by plugging a well tested charger and battery into it and trying to charge it, if it does not charge then the problem is from the camcorder.
How can I connect this old relic to my computer?
You can get videos from this camera, or any analogue video source, into a computer. You just have to play them into an analogue video interface port. These are available as expansion slot cards for a PC, or sometimes as a USB plug-in interface. They will come with drivers and probably software to digitise the video input and record it to a file. Lots of third party video editing software will also be able to accept the input from this kind of port. You don't need any "driver" related to the camera, it is just a video signal source. The connecting leads will be standard RCA signal plugs, like the ones you use to connect to a TV or VHS recorder. You already have a lead for this, but from what you say I am not sure that it has both video and audio (there should be two or three plugs at the TV/Computer end). As an example, here is an analogue video input device I found on Amazon-
LINKOnce you have the video on the computer, you will need DVD "Authoring" and burning software, which will usually come as part of the same package. You can download such software for free from the internet- my first stop would be www.download.com.
