Neoprene is a type of synthetic rubber, often also used in neck and ankle seals in dry suits. Neoprene can be specially prepared to contain millions of tiny enclosed air bubbles, forming a buoyant and thermally-insulating material.
Most dry suit manufacturers make patches that can be put over the leaks, you should check with the manufacturer - also your dry suit could be under warranty so check into it.
Dry suits are not meant to keep a diver warm; they are designed to keep the clothing from getting wet. It may be even possible that a diver may get wet from perspiration or a leak in the suit. The types of materials to wear under the dry suit include pile fleece, polypropylene or wool as these types of materials will keep you insulated even when wet - avoid wearing cotton.
