Zoom Problem
There are two components to a camera lense. One adjusts the final lense distance from the CCD imaging chip the other adjusts the distance between the lenses in the assembly (which zooms the image in and out). It sounds like something inside the lense came loose and when you zoom the lense the focal lense is moving with the rest. The lense will probably have to be replaced if it cannot be taken apart. Odds are something is broken inside anyway. This could be something you might be capable of, I have no way of knowing. If you do not think you are up to the task, have a reputable repair shop do it. Cost should not be excessive. I would think less than $100 US plus the cost of the part. Good luck.
Hi, i have used my camcode after few months and
My thoughts is the heads on the drum are getting clogged. The best thing to do is to take it into a place like Best Buy who may be able to have the appropriate cleaning tools to clean the debris from the heads.
Cleaning should be left to the professionals especially with Mini DV as the heads and head drum is so small and tiny.
Blessings,

Can't take pictures
Make sure the little slide swithch on the SD card ( left side is not in the no write position. Often when inserting SD cards the little white slide gets pushed off its top position.
CAN'T RECORD OR TAKE PICTURES BECAUSE PROTECTION
Dear Wlburns68,
There are many protection features on this camcoder as follows:
- If the (DEW) protection feature is activated, leave the camcoder for at least two hours in a dry, warm room with the cassette compartment opened and the battery pack removed.
-
When you have recorded something that you wish to keep,
you can protect it so that it will not be accidentally erased.
a. Protecting a tape :
Push the safety tab on the cassette so that the hole is
uncovered.
b. Removing the tape protection :
If you no longer wish to keep the recording on the
cassette, push the write-protect tab back so that it
covers the hole.
You can have a similar function on Memory cards as well.
-
One is the Protection that you set on an image or a video to protect it from being overwritten (the point number 2 is at Tape/memory card level and this one is at image level)
I think the issue that your camera has is to do with either (2) or (1).
Please let me know if that helps and if it doesn't still I would love to hear from you so that I can research a little further..
Regards,
Srinivas.
