I cannot find a driver to connect my VP-D20
If you did not order a fire-wire for the PC it won't have one. The fire wire called IEEE 1394 fire-wire can be bought at most stores Staples carry them and so do Wal-mart and others. Not knowing the type of computer you I can't tell you which one to buy. Some are for the new USB 2.0 and others are 1.0 in older machines. Also need to know if it's 16 bit 32 bit or 64 bit computer buss, it's a fairly simple job to install one. If you don't want to install a card you can buy one that plugs into a USB port but it may be slower than if you have the Card itself. They cost $20.00 to $30.00 each. You can get them at most of the on-line stores.
Samsung vp d20 camcorder
MiniDV cameras have two video heads on the rotating drum, which read and write the picture in broad horizontal bands. When one head is not working, normally because it is clogged by dust/dirt/tape residue, you see broad bands of noise across the image occupying exactly half the total image area.......
Battery charging
When you initially used the unit was it with the battery or not? If it was with the battery was the AC hooked up also? You need to remove the batteries from the equation to find the problem. Hook the camcorder directly to the AC unit and see what it does. Also you do not mention how you know that the AC unit has power at the lead. Checking with a DMM does not garantee it. I have seen units which have the correct voltage until you put a load on the AC adapter. At this point the AC adapter could be bad, the battery could have a memory or be bad or the input jack could have a bad solder joint. If you have a DMM and know how to use it check the AC adapter for proper output. If it checks OK you will have to assume that it does not have the problem I mentioned. I have only seen that one time. With no battery on the camcorder, plug the AC adapter in and try the unit. If it does not work you probably have a broken input jack. If you are good with tools, have jewelers screwdrivers, magnifying glasses, a steady hand and lots of patience remove the covers to expose the jack and repair the connection. This should solve your problem. If you are not capable of the repair you will need to find a good reputable repair facility to take care of this. Cost should be less than $100 US. Good luck.

To transfer the recordings from your Samsung SC D353 Mini DV tape to your computer, you'll need to follow these steps:
1. Connect the camcorder to your computer: Use a FireWire (also called IEEE 1394) cable to connect your Samsung SC D353 Mini DV camcorder to your computer. Most computers have a FireWire port, but if yours doesn't, you can purchase a FireWire adapter card.
2. Turn on the camcorder: Turn on your Samsung camcorder and set it to VCR mode.
3. Open the video capture software: On your computer, open the video capture software that came with your operating system (e.g. Windows Movie Maker, iMovie on Mac) or a third-party video capture software (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) that supports Mini DV tape.
4. Start recording: In the video capture software, select the option to capture video from a DV device. Click the Record button in the software and then press Play on the camcorder to begin playing the Mini DV tape. The video should be captured and recorded onto your computer.
5. Save the video: Once the video has been captured, you can edit it if necessary and then save it to your computer in the desired format.
Note: If you do not have the original video capture software, it is recommended that you search and download compatible software before beginning the transfer process. Additionally, make sure your computer has enough storage to store the transferred files.
