Refrigerator is hot to the touch

That is a very bad sign, but before you unplug it pull the machine out from the wall and check to see if it feels hot back there as well. Then remove the lower cover and find the condersor fan motor. Its the only fan back there. I'd willing to bet that the fan is not running. The purpose of the the fan is draw air across the compressor and blow it through the condensor therefore lowering the temperature on both parts. When its not working/ running, the heat from the compressor and the condensor is pass onward to the machine and the machine then acts as a heat sink. I have a Hotpoint HSS25GFPH white side by side refrigerator. We're buying a new house with black appliances. I don't want to buy a new refrigerator so I'm contemplating painting the whit

Paint? unless you have a spray booth, and are good at such things, I would avoid that... I would go with a vinyl or similar adhesive sticker. There are companies that do whole fridge front stickers with artwork/nature pictures etc. Google "refrigerator stickers" and you might find one that will do, just plain black.

No power to the front panel

So you do have power inside the unit in both the refrigerator and freezer sides correct? if only the front door control is not working and you have tested the switch and solenoid shown on this diagram as part 72 http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/frame_diagram.aspx?diagram_id=22283824&pkw_=basket&model_id=5130309&NewWindow=1you would most likely be looking at replaceing part 93 which contains the display as well as a small control behind the display itself if you have any questions message me back Thank you Rick

Door not closing

Check there is nothing inside the fridge stopping the door closing. Check the hinges are aligned ok and the door closes without springing back open. If there is a self closing mechanism the pin may have come out of the top of the spring.

NO WATER AT FRONT PANEL

It is possible that water still may not get through the=> WR57X10051 Water Valve - Dual Outlet Pull the refrigerator out from wall and examine the water valve by carefully unplugging power to refrigerator, removing lower cover and disconnect water line just before water line enters the water filter assembly if applicable. Carefully place the end of water line into a pan and plug refrigerator into power again. Press the dispense water button again and watch to see if water enters pan. If no water goes into pan replace the WR57X10051 Water Valve - Dual Outlet and if not then check the water filter by loosening the outer housing and then press the water dispenser to see if water pressure reaches water filter, Let me know your results Thanks Sea Breeze USER Manual Here

Refrigerator/freezer quits working, I unplug it, plug it back in, and it works great for a week or so. What do I need to replace to fix this problem?

the freezer coil is probably freezing up. if so you have a bad defrost thermostat, heater, timer or board or combination of them.

How often do you change the water filter

The answer to this question is not curt and dry, water quality varies with different area's, by quality i mean dissolved mineral, so if you live in an area with hard water (lots of dissolved minerals) then change it about every 90 days on continuous use, if you live in an area with soft water every 6 months is more than enough. Also change the filter is the flow is diminished, this indicates a filter that is clogged with particulate material like pipe rust or heavy mineral from hard water. Please rate my help for Fixya.

Howling noise in HSS25GFP

I can only tell you of my experience when my freezer/Refrigerator made those similar sounds. I pulled it out from the wall and saw some dust accumilation so I took the bottom access panel off to the fan and compressor compartment. It had a lot of lint like dust accumilation so I cleaned it. I actually took my air compressor and blew it out.Made a little mess but nothing vacuum cleaner couldn't handle. Anyway it helped a heap. It's like any refrigerant device. The filter needs cleaning. Not sure it will help with your problem but it did mine.

My water will just stop coming out, it starts out strong but then just slow to nothing, what can i do?

When is the last time you changed your water filter in the unit usually if it were to just slow after coming out quickly it would suggest either the filter needs to be changed due to a build up in the filter you have or you could also have a blockage in your water valve as well which is located on the back side of the unit under the lower panel. If you havent changed the water filter in the unit I would first look at that as being your issue. If you have any questions message me back. Please also remember when our chat has fully concluded to rate how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation. I await your replyThank you Rick

Water not getting to dispenser, but does get to ice maker.

Hi All,
The fix to the "GE/Hotpoint Secret" frozen water dispenser problem is the Dispenser Water Tube Heater Kit, P/N WR49X10173 that can be purchased at Sears. Just a few bucks. My Hotpoint (model HSM25GFRA5A) had the same issue and GE would not tell me anything but required a technician to come out. The technician had no clue but after making some calls found the heater at Sears and ordered it delivered to me. He had to setup a return appointment but I canceled it after getting the parts and fixing it myself. The instructions are in the kit. Since most all GE/Hotpoint refrigerators (same model group of course) use the same parts/assemblies this will work for lots of folks. See pic below. If the area behind the cover looks like this it may be the part. Feel free to email me for help on this ([email protected]). Piece of cake.
