When i log in .i find myself tied into someone else. what info do you need from me to help me get off to a better start?
Are you logging in on a secondary login? This might be why....I don't know what operating system you have but you should go to control panel and the go to users. You must create your own user name to login to, or if you have been using this other persons for a while and downloaded anything to their user name...I would see if you can edit the user name you have been using and type in your name then"..once you create a new user name you are going to have to create everything you have been using on the other persons login and copy to the new login.
My monitor flickers and sometimes it stays on and
If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed ACER monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Everything on the screen is in a blue tint.
Check all connections to the monitor and try it on another computer. If the tinge is gone on another computer, check graphics card on your computer. If the tinge does not go, the screen is failinga nd will need repairing (but most likely replacing)
Letters are not sharp
Hello Edlund50, hi the reason why you LCD monitor are not sharp is because the computer you are using with the video graphics display has no device driver installed.
If you are using the VGA port of your PC motherboard, you need the CD driver for your VGA display hardware that is the CD when you buy the PC. If you are using PCIe or AGP there is a CD when you buy the card, that comes with it, use the driver CD to install the driver software. IF there are no CD or driver, simply browse the Internet on the manufacturer's website of the display video card. for example if my pc motherboard is asrock, go to asrock website. www.asrock.com (thats it with example.)

I have an ACER AL2216W Monitor, 22 inch. Power
not likely the lamp, turn it on with hooked to computer, shine an flash light at angle to screen and see if you see the desktop. if you don't then the power supply is at fault I would think. Since it sounds like your ok with opening it up do so and look at the supply, the caps!
