I've got a Planar PL2010M monitor that is brain-dead-
1. Try a different DVI cable. 2. Check the monitor's settings and make sure it is set to the correct resolution. 3. Planar 997-2419-00 monitor is dark completely but
ivettecorral, "Switch-mode-power-supply" is in partial shutdown mode. The monitor needs you or tech to fix it. Your display isn't any different than any other brand that has BLACK and not BLANK screen!!! Read more options that you have open to you in my fixya profile. Won't communicate with computer
Try connecting another "known-good" monitor to your computer.
If it does not work, it's the video-card on your computer that is the problem.
Try connecting the monitor to the VGA-port on a laptop, or to some other desktop. If it does not work, and if it's under warranty, exercise the warranty. Otherwise, it's dead, and you need to buy a replacement, and responsibly recycle the dead monitor.
Monitor shows a image uo
Does it go blank before you signon, or when you sign on? If before boot to SAFE MODE and check the video display settings.. you man have settings your monitor can't understand.
If that doesn't work and you get to input your signon and then it goes blank you most likly have a virus or malware.
Log into safe mode, and use SYSTEM RESTORE to a time before you stated having the problem.

Monitor doesnt power on
It could even be that it's not plugged in to the computer, or that it's time to buy a new one.
