Samsung SyncMaster 204t 20.1" Flat Panel LCD Monitor Questions & Answers
Sycmaster 204T works great for 20 seconds then screen blanks
Hello Carl,That problem could be caused by either bad capacitors on the power supply board or a bad back light bulb in the panel. The first thing to check would be the capacitors on the power supply board. Here is a link with a few pictures of how to dis-assemble the unit and what to look for. The tops of the capacitors should be flat, if they are domed or have any bulging then they need to be replaced. If all of the capacitors look good then it is most likely the back light bulb. This can be replaced by it is much more involved.

Monitor shows picture for a 1/2 second then black
Sounds like it might be getting too
hot and/or going bad. Not sure how to diagnose this without seeing it
myself. That is the best that I can do. Your video card could be
going bad. Try another video card on that monitor. This will be the
only way to decide if it is the card or monitor. Try it on another machine and
see what it does.

Monitor doesn't turn on. there
If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

I lost power to my office and now my monitor will
Monitor thsi is more likely to have failing caps in the power supply, so it did not take much to make it fail when the power comes back on with little surge to cause it to go out now.

My son crack the LCD glass on his 204T SyncMaster
The glass of the panel is glued or welded to the LCD wafer below, it cannot be replaced separately. Since the panel is the most expensive part of an LCD monitor, its probably the cheapest option to just get a new monitor - spare part ordering and extensive manual work required for the change simply outweighs the remaining value of the monitor.

Blank Screen
It's very likely that the LCd "inverter" is bad. This is a module that provides the high voltages needed to light the 4 cold-cathode lamps that provide the white backlight.
Search for other samsung problems with inverter and you should find several. The one I saw was for 17" LCDs and the 204T is probably using a different module.
Should be able to find replacement online, but be prepared to take the monitor back cover off, with tiny screws and connectors.

How to fix pink colur screen on sync master 794 mg samsung
The connecting cable or the video card would be the first suspects. Try a different cable to connect the monitor first, if there is no change, the video card in the computer would be second to look at. Can simply connect a different monitor to your computer to troubleshoot this. If the testing monitor works, it will be the graphics card that is the issue.

Vga connection to the mother board
If your motherboard doesn't have a VGA connection, then that means it most likely does not have an integrated video card. If this is the case, then you will have to purchase and install a video card. It is very easy and your local Best Buy should be a great resource. The geeks there are usually very enthusiastic about explaining how to do it. I use to order from newegg.com, but they have become very commercialized and overpriced, like Best Buy. You can check tigerdirect.com or my favorite Amazon.com. Best Buy will price match any items they sell, including those on Amazon. If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at
