Pl916s proview 19 inch flat screen moniter

Hi, I, too, was given one of these monitors. Using a flashlight shine it at an angle to the screen and see if you see a computer screen showing under the beam of the flashlight. If you see a picture then the backlight or its circuit is not working. Check to see that the 4 cables going to the LCD display are plugged in all of the way. There are plugs on each of the cables with 2 wires to each plug.

Monitor works on one computer, but not the other

The problem is not your monitor, but the video card on your computer that it doesn't work on. If the video output on your computer is built in, residing near your keyboard / mouse ports, you can purchase another video card to put into your computer and connect your monitor up to that instead. If it attaches to a separate card inside your computer, just replace it. There are three kinds you can get, AGP, PCI, or PCIe. Make sure you get one that will fit inside your computer.

My laptop screen got wet now it has a dul screen and a dark area

I always start with seeing if when connecting an external monitor to the Laptops VGA output is the same or different to what you see when just via the Laptops screen. Reason is so that can narrow down to JUST Laptop screen or graphics chip, maybe even OR connection at cable either end, Motherboad or Screen. Is the Laptop turning on alright i.e. no frying, I assume it has dried out from when it got wet. localised to screen only or possibly inside of Laptop....Lights up with power, fan spins hard drive spins, right? If so try an external monitor.

My monitor will not turn

I would suggest you leave the idea of opening the monitor for now and do the following checks first:

- Check the power cord if it's properly connected and not loose.
- Use another power cord to make sure it's not the power cord that's faulty

Do not open the monitor, unless you know what you're doing, as this may only deepen the problem.

hope this helps.

This could be that the screen topback light or bottom back light is bad or the inverter.
the topback or bottom back light could also be seing as the flouricent of the screen that light up the screen to enable display visible. This top back light or botom back light as the name implies is positioned at the top and bottom side of the screen. It takes an expertize knowledge for one to be able to change the flouricent when comfirms bad.The same is applicable with Inverter.

PL913s.. the monitor powers on the screen pops on

The buzzing sound can be from high voltage arcing sound form the connections at the ends of the lamps assemblies, see BAD BACKLIGHT/LAMP albums.
You you shoud check and see if the inverter circuits have 16~18vdc feeding it when it goes black screen. Something likel this you will need test lamps for testing the inverter circuits.
All cpas have completely falt tops, bad caps can look normal but they can have high ESR.
Post pictures of the board will help.

Hello, i need the inverter

Did you inspect the caps for domed tops in the power supply/inverter board yet? Worst case will be the lamps assembly.
If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on: Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/ Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Does LCD monitor emit UV light?

The monitor use Fluorescent lamps (CCFL) to light up the screen, same kind as used for the home fluorescent lamps, no different, they are just smaller in size and lower wattages. Do you use fluorescent lamps in your house to be Green, if there are conflicting info then they would have banned fluorescent lamps a long time ago and will not be banning regular light bulbs in the future.

No power

If you are technically able, you could replace the power supply capacitors on the power supply circuit board in the monitor. This takes a little skill with a soldering iron and purchasing 105 degree capacitors of the right value. Do be cautious of the capacitor direction, and be careful of the 160 volt supply and the 1000v supply to the backlight. Don't void your OWN warranty.
Very cheap to do to see if the monitor can be saved.

My volume is not working correctly. I have it

Monitor volume is affected by TWO volume controls (or even three...)
1: Volume on the monitor can be set to 80%
2: Main Volume on the COMPUTER can be set to your liking.
3: Wave volume on the computer mixer settings should be set for 80% (See Sound on your control panel or right click your volume control near the clock)

If all these are right and the volume is still low, check that the audio is not set for surround 5 or 7 channel and the monitor audio connector is plugged into the REAR green connection on the computer.

Still problems, the audio driver in the monitor is shot.

Ho do I open the PL913 monitor s as I remoce the screws

That hole is for the Kensington anti-theft locking. You need to start at the bottom edge of the monitor, it can be very difficult sometime since a lot of them do not have slot to put a screw driver in to crack it open. Try youtube on 'How to openLCD monitor case'.

Screen stays lit for 2 seconds and then goes blank

The problem can be bad caps (bulging top) which is more likely, or bad backlight inverter circuits. Check to see if you do have 12vdc or no bad caps, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
