Can't download video to macintosh from the canon zr100

Unfortunately, it looks as if you may have one of the macs that just doesn't want to co-operate. If the FW cable is brand new, i highly doubt you've got a defective cable. After doing a Google search, Canon knows of this problem and hasn't offered any real support or a solution. I could only assume it's the camcorder and not the mac. Give me another day or so and I'll get back to ya, I'll see if I can borrow my friends camcorder and try to get it to work on one of my other macs.
In the meantime, try opening imovie , connect the camcorder while it's off, turn it on and set up imovie as if you were about to capture ntsc footage. Next play the tape in the camcorder and see if imovie recognizes it then.

Horizontal lines on playback screen

Someone here recommended on another post to put the lense cap on & videotape the blackness in a quiet room for 5-10 mins. I tried this as a last resort & it worked. When I played back the tape, no more skipping or gray lines. I had 4-5 SOLID gray lines with skipping video & audio in between on every tape I put in. I think the person who helped me solve this said that it was a result of the tape alignment going off. My camera is a Canon zr80 digital camcorder. (Called Canon, they had me reset it & then recommended sending it in).

JVC GR-D33U won't play back some tapes

The tape cleaning won't help this problem, it is alignment on tape guide and back tension, like you mentioned it had been service before after they fixed the lens cap issue, usually they connected to computer to adjusted may be they missed. So I sugges you to bring it back to them if it is still under warranty or direct to JVC and take the old tape, ask them to try it after they align this unit, DO NOT use tape cleaning again because you can see picture on the new recorded
that mean the video head is good
I hope that give you some ideas

Lines through the playback

Someone here recommended on another post to put the lense cap on & videotape the blackness in a quiet room for 5-10 mins. I tried this as a last resort & it worked. When I played back the tape, no more skipping or gray lines. I had 4-5 SOLID gray lines with skipping video & audio in between on every tape I put in. The person who helped me solve this said: "the speed isn't linked with the last time you recorded on it. Frames have an A/B part to them. If A is hitting B instead of A, a line appears. I would try the head cleaner first, then blacken your used tape (keep lens cap on and record in a quiet room) and try that."
My camera is a Canon zr80 digital camcorder. (Called Canon, they had me reset it & then recommended sending it in).

Cassette won't install

I have the same problem. Contacted Canon and they admit that it is a common problem, but will not admit it is their fault. They try to blame it on inferior cassettes, which I have never used. They are happy to fix it for about $400. Canon is absolutely useless on this issue.

Digital Video Camcoder

What you are seeing is digital drop out. This is usually caused by dirty heads. Head cleaner tapes rarely fix this. You shuld have this unit serviced requesting a complete cleaning of the heads.

Won't except tape

I have a ZR100 that did the same nearly the same thing - but it was only beeping twice. I followed the advice another thread suggested - I banged it twice on the opposite side from the door but it didn't fix it. Then I banged it twice on the side with the tape door.... and now all is well!

I couldn't believe that "fixed" it. Like banging the ol' tube color TV on the side to fix the picture. Maybe it is short lived, but if it holds for the rest of this year until the camcorder Christmas sales begin, I'll be happy!

Canon md101 manula eject

yup there is sort of... you take a jewelers flathead screwdriver and push the spring back on the lens side of the cassette holder. and then on the other side there is a little hook that latches over a bump that locks it in place, you push that down and it will unlock... from there you might have to take the extremely small screw out at the top and remove the whole cassette tray...

Where is menu on switch

According to the manual, the Menu button is on the rear of the camcorder, just below the battery. Pressing this button activates the menu, and using the dial on the lower left side of the camcorder allows scrolling and selection (press the dial in) of menu items.

A beeping noise goes off, when i put in a tape

Does the unit say anything about moisture? This sounds like a moisture fault. Leave the unit open for a day in a dry area and try it. If it is moisture and everything is OK this should solve your problem. If it doesn't solve your problem you could have a bad moisture detector. This is a small square metal looking device near the video drum with two wires hooked to it. It's job is to protect the camcorder and keep it from damaging tapes when moisture is present in the unit. The simplist way to verify if it is defective is to jump a wire across the two connections and try the unit. If it works this is your problem and you will need it replaced. A good repair shop should be able to do it for about $50 US. Two websites which give free estimates are http://www.videotech.com and http://www.camcorderrepair.com Good luck.

Best Buy Warranty and Repair Problems

Well Best Buy is not going to re-imburse you for sending it to canon because that was your call. Also when they made the mistake the first time and the second time you brought it you should have just told them to send it to the store, and you should have checked in the notes to make sure they specifically typed in to return the tape with the product.... also you should have risksed it with Best Buy because on the 4th time they send a product out to service it normally is deemed a lemon, in which you would of got a new one. They will not take into consideration that you sent it to canon as the 3rd time or fourth time, however many times its been.

I think your problem is in the analog to digital converters. They seem to not be working, It is probably cheaper to buy a new camera rather than fixing yours.
