How to remove top cover
On the side of the machine there are slits, push them in with a thin blades screw driver, and lift the cover up. Caution the right light panel will be attached, do not lift that side first.
Right margin starts out ok, but after typing in
Your pulleys and rails and motor are gummed up, and need cleaned and lubricated.
The machine will loose it margins because it thinks it moved but didnt. Probably makes a grinding, grrr noise. When you turn it on and off it resets, thats why you can type a bit more.
Install lift off tape cartridge
Remove the ribbon by pushing the blue lever to the right and front of the ribbon. The correction tape cartridge is attached to the bottom
of the Printing ribbon. Depress the center of Printing ribbon to release the correction ribbon. Snap on a new one.
Cutting of bottoms of letters
It could be that the ribbon is folded over.
Take the ribbon out and look at it. If it's folded pull it out a ways and turn the knob to take it in until the fold is gone.
Also check that it is installed correctly. There are two tabs on the bottom of the ribbon that go into slots on the ribbon plate where it sits. Then it should "click into place so that you have to move the release lever to get it out. If it still prints off the ribbon, it will need an adjustment.
Repeat typed text
Your machine does not have any memory to have it repeat what you have typed.

If you pull the hammer towards you the entire printwheel will come out of the machine. You do not remove the printwheel from it's holder as that is how they are made. printwheels come in different sizes and typestyles but they are all in there housing.
