When the lights come on do they all stay on or flash? Are there any beeps? Need some more info.

First, try a different printwheel. If that doesn't work, try blowing out the carrier as the sensor that reads the printwheel may be dirty. You may also need a new selection motor.

Your problem might be a bad keyboard. The service manual says to check the ends of the cables that attach the keyboard to the system board. You may need a technician to swap a known good keyboard with yours and see if that is the problem. If it doesn't work then you will need a new system board.

On the side of the machine there are slits, push them in with a thin blades screw driver, and lift the cover up. Caution the right light panel will be attached, do not lift that side first.

Your pulleys and rails and motor are gummed up, and need cleaned and lubricated. The machine will loose it margins because it thinks it moved but didnt. Probably makes a grinding, grrr noise. When you turn it on and off it resets, thats why you can type a bit more.

Remove the ribbon by pushing the blue lever to the right and front of the ribbon. The correction tape cartridge is attached to the bottom of the Printing ribbon. Depress the center of Printing ribbon to release the correction ribbon. Snap on a new one.

Is the Daisy Wheel installed correctly? If so, Maybe it's time to buy a computer.

It could be that the ribbon is folded over. Take the ribbon out and look at it. If it's folded pull it out a ways and turn the knob to take it in until the fold is gone. Also check that it is installed correctly. There are two tabs on the bottom of the ribbon that go into slots on the ribbon plate where it sits. Then it should "click into place so that you have to move the release lever to get it out. If it still prints off the ribbon, it will need an adjustment.

sounds like memory problem or the actual program. Any power spikes since this began could be the gremlin

More that likely your key board is failing. They are put together with plasic rivots that deteriorate over time. You will probably need a rebuilt keybord. Roughly 125 for keyboards and Somone to put it in . A shop. Good luck

The PW2 does not have memory.

What is your need to adjust the print hammer/ What is happening that you need an adjustment?

Your machine does not have any memory to have it repeat what you have typed.

If the right platen latch is broken it can easily be replaced to lock down the platen. If the left one is damaged then you have to replace the entire platen as that is much more difficult to repair.

If you pull the hammer towards you the entire printwheel will come out of the machine. You do not remove the printwheel from it's holder as that is how they are made. printwheels come in different sizes and typestyles but they are all in there housing.

Try a different printwheel to see if that resolves the problem. If that doesn't work, your selection motor may be going bad.
