Hp pavilion dv4 laptop is

first off there is no such thing as a DV4, sorry!!!! dv4-1000, 1280,1300, right?,. it's 10 old, the battery is that old is no good, the dash matters too if present (details do) or is it a DV4000, 13 years old not 10 .??? why not post the full model and p/n off your PC service tag so i can show you matching manuals to read and follow, ok? THE AGE MATTERS AS DOES REAL MODEL NUMBERS!!! that is blink code, try to learn how to read them , counts them. here is a list of tests, simple. to harder. 1; Remove that old big battery 10 years old , it shorted. 2: run on AC power only. in fact can do this forever....... 3: next is the fan working? fan is next and now, does it? 4: flash codes, count them and report them, easy no? 5: the coin cell is next , it is 10 years old that too is END OF LIFE why not replace it too ,now even if good, to avoid problems later, ? My answers are for DV4000 only not the DV4-1000 and up vast series of laptops. vast versions of them... the coin cell , HP name RTC battery, all die at 5-7 years old. yours is well beyond that. ok? lets do chapter 5 covering just that now. here it is, pg 5-20 pdf page 126 we take it it out if lower than 2.9v (a dmm meter is cheap) we replace it, 3.3 is normal when the fall to 2.9 (think cliff) they fail fast and the BIOS GOES NUTS, in fact the PC can be totally dead. see the manual , if wrong next time tell full service tag data.!!! https://www.manualslib.com/download/71706/Hp-Pavilion-Dv4200.html dv4000-k5q5be0wp0wngr0s3gry320h-1-0.jpg that caps lock flashing are codes, learn to count them my wild guess is it is the code for BIOS NVRAM corruption. the cure is posted here over 1000 times. and a million times at HP.com real, we are not HP.

Quick touch

got nothing?, (means PC is dead or just key buttons dead) tell what works and not, we can not watch you or it. please Series: DV4000 is a series of LT. it has a full & real model stated on its service tag, only THAT works, so how'd it get w8? there? (bought FROM MS or HP?????) why mess with BIOS> ? if this fails it bricks the PC. (if you must flash always flash using the usb stick way. (freedos) not only that using the wrong model to flash, HP sold this series with AMD and Intel processors. oops...... next time before doing such big thing ask, hp first? both model and p/n matter, when doing updates or buying parts. big time! tag1-nvn5fnzys0y3nze0x40aj1l2-5-0.jpg learn that HP page, the exact model and OS must be selected or it shows you the WRONG BIOS and wrong driver and wrong HP APPS. for a fact. here is the series page, dangerous, imo https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-dv4-4000-entertainment-notebook-pc-series/5082208 use the real page by using real models # BIOS101 pick any LT. even yours. the PC can have 6 different network chips used in the long production run.. and GPU and other features, very different. in your case even the CPU vastly different. amd/intel so giving that fact, picking the right BIOS binary can be very hard. best of all why not ask HP before even walking the path. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/

Forgot password and how to unlock

If this is a windows computer, you can look online for a program to erase your current windows password. I found one called Offline Windows Password & Registry Editor. I had to 1. download the program onto a second computer that I could logon to, 2. Burn the program to a DVD or USB stick 3. Go back to the computer I forgot my password on, and turn it off/on 4. As it is turning on, press the F?? key that the screen says to go to the boot menu. 5. Tell your computer to boot to the DVD or USB stick 6. Follow the instructions included with the software to reset your password to blank. Note: Remember what account you login with, so you reset only that account's password. 7. You should be able to reboot your computer, and login without a password.

How do I rest a hppavilion dv4000

Either the computer came with a recovery disc, or during the boot up at the HP screen thre should be some options. Typically F11 will get you into a recovery partition which should allow you to re-install Windows. This will wipe out any data you have.

My hp notebook wireless net is not stable on my machine

It could be your wireless card which you can replace through the bottom of the machine. Take it out and get the part number and do a search on amazon for it. It should be fairly inexpensive $5-10 I'm guessing. If that doesn't work I would just get a USB wireless adapter which you can also get from amazon. Good Luck! Restore a HP dv4000 laptop to factory

I always start by downloading Belarc Advisor (www.belarc.com), download and install it, allow to load, print out the entire inventory of all hardware & software. This will tell you what hardware you have including BIOS version is currently installed. Next, back up to other media all data you may need that is reachable on the hard drive....The RECOVERY OPERATION will DESTROY ALL DATA and reformat the HARD DRIVE! (IMPORTANT). First check the label on the bottom of the laptop (open an internet browser to the following link;), and click on the actual model # of your dv4000. As can be seen by the list, there are 17 different models of HP dv4000 laptops made (most are RECOVERED to FACTORY RESET the same way though, either by diskset (the Complete Factory Restore Disk sets are model number specific, and can be ordered at the HP driver Downloads link), or from the Restore Partition (usually labeled D: Recovery Partition), on the hard drive (as long as the HD has not been replaced previously or recently). Also always download and install all needed driver updates from that model specific link at HP, after the Recovery Operation is completed, and install all Windows Updates also. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-search.html?tab=2#/qryterm=dv4000&search_searchtype=s-001 Once at the above link, and choosing your specific model from the list...(First save the link in favorites on a computer that will not be restored) Click on "How To" on the right, then System Recovery / Backup / Restore on the left. That may or may not contain the info you will need. So, click on the following link. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00006110&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en Determine what OS (operating system), you have...Read all the info first at the links you need to choose depending on the model and OS you have of dv4000. Follow the instructions step by step. Drivers are another category to go to and download all Drivers into separate individual Hardware Drivers folders after the Recovery is completed. Start always with the BIOS, then Chipset, Audio, Video and then all the others. I also perform Professionally done HP dv4000 Full Factory New Like Recoveries including data BU disk sets. For $125.00 plus the costs of any data BU DVD's and any required HP RESTORE Disk Sets if necessary and return shipping required if it is beyond your abilities. Contact me if you wish to take advantage of that offer. Good luck! cglrcng
