Visit the above link. Click the Network Drivers link and download the drivers for ethernet (LAN) according to the LAN you have on your laptop. (you may try other Broadcom or Intel LAN Drivers)

Check it is powering laptop,if not the jack has bad connection and not connecting to mainboard constantly,
Dobt thats what is happening in your case but need to rule it out for next step.
Remove the battery then try ac adaptor on its own.
Next try removing ram,insert one stick only,next sub it with other stick only,if still no good remove hard drive,you are attempting to get bios start screen to show up,if still no good you may be looking at mainboard power regulator ic fails,which are a real problem on some compaq models this also damages other components on the mainboard(google search will reveal what im on about)
Dont remember offhand but if its the type that has common mainboard fail its not worth repairing as the new boards always fail eventually due to same problem.
There are also light error codes in the back of the manual and available online to diagnose this by the type of lights showing up.

The culprit will be the inverter board of your LCD screen that drives the backlight, my nc8000 shows the same symptoms after 6 years of heavy daily usage. After pressing the LID sensing button near the right hinge the backlight usually remains on, but sometimes you have to press it several times under a minute once it finally stays on. The proper fix would be to disassemble the screen and replace the inverter board, as the LCD and the CCFL backlight tubes are perfectly fine in my case.

Unfortunately, I can't help you out on the other part, on how to disassemble the screen itself (but I suspect it has 4 or 6 screws under the rubber "feets" on its front), and I can't help you out in fixing the inverter board itself either...
If you want to fix the board yourself, you have to be able to wield the soldering iron perfectly, and your goal will be to replace some capacitors (they are usually bulging, so you can identify them being the culprit by the naked eye too).
The other option is to order a replacement inverter board, and simply swap the bad with the new one, it is still more economical than to buy a new display assembly as a whole; some chinese manufacturers are available, but I bet you can find some source more closely to your current location, just google for:

In that case it was corrupted. The easiest and fastest way is to reinstall - a only 2 hour fully automated process.

For what you have said earlier the main problem for making system to trip off in a second or minute timing is because of the Processor fan that stops working even if you have a bad resistors or so that might have be burnt or whatsoever fault, once you make use of your full charged battery it suppose to last you very well on your laptop but the main problem and the solution am to render is just for you to get a replacement for your  processor fan , Whenever the processor is hot , it will trip off and shutdown in a seconds or minute timing. so the best for you is you getting a well blowing cooling fan and let the processor gets  cool. The other time you try to ON it and it ON , is just because you allow it to cool for a little time thats why you have it On again but is not advisable to keep ONing it so just change the FAN and then if your charger is bad change it and then have your PC working fine. N:B Your Fan is faulty is the cause of your system tripping OFF , so change it for the proper functioning of your system.

It could very likely be the motherboard causing the problem, in which case you're best off just getting a new computer rather than replacing or repairing the board, but it could also be a power issue.

Try turning the computer on with the battery installed and the AC adapter disconnected, and then try it with the AC adapter connected and the battery removed -- does it show the same symptoms both times?

this could be probably due to static charges or corrupt bios settings.
Turn off the PC, disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the battery. Now press and hold the power button for 45 seconds.
Now download and install the latest BIOS update available for your notebook from manufacturer's website. If issue persists, reinstall the display drivers.

0xED is not just specifically present on HP computers but all PC-based computers which has XP or later using NTFS on it. It can be resolved by doing a chkdsk /f /r or by performing a repair installation using windows. Hi Turecki, It's a moderately easy fix for this common issue with HP/Compaq Laptops. Simply go to ebay, purchase an "inverter" board built for a NC8000 laptop can range from $10-$50 just purchase one with a minimum 6 month warranty. Its about a 0.5 inch by 15 inches. Unscrew all of the tiny phillips screws located and hidden behind black rubber covers on the LCD screen. Pop off the plastic LCD cover and replace the inverter board located at the bottom of the LCD (plug & play). Put it all back together and voila...problem fixed.
